This is not about one specific person, this is about the staff there as a whole and generalized.

The programmers are most likely educated. But just cause you have academic knowledge doesn't mean you know how to use it creatively and with integrity. Then there is also the problem of being skilled at something and being handed awful tools; There's only so much you can do with it.

They've taken an established franchise from a niche genre, stripped it down and made the content more digestible, and received universal praise and adulation for doing so.

It's genius.
