After another bloody shootout with civilian casualties the Iraqi government is pulling Blackwater's license to operate in Iraq.

i can only imagine a lot more are to follow... since Aegis and company are far more innept than Blackwater.

one wonders if the US of A won't intervene and revoke this in some way though...

Ohhh I easily see ol George turning that upside down... After all, Iraq is America's personal piggy bank... Or is it George n' companies?

Considering it's the political body which governs* the country, yes the Iraqi government... LOL !

Changes nothing methinks. The mercs will just switch company to one that is there. Or blackwater will disepear and a new company called water-with-a-blackish-color will appear to take on new contracts. Ofcourse these new contracts will be more expensive.

What I can't stand is all these people whose relatives are employed in Blackwater saying "They should have APCs and better guns and healthcare and mini nukes and power armor and stuff!!!*"

if they wanted that, they shouldn't have left the military to whore themselves out.

I know this was slightly a joke, but Blackwater is one of the largest PMCs in the US. They aren't going to take this lightly. They'll probably petition Bush, then the Iraqi government will get disbanded because of Al Queda ties or something. Yeah, they royally suck as a governing body, but that would mean another 4 years at the same troop levels.
On another note, I wonder if they were testing the AA12 fully automatic shotgun? Something I wanted to keep tabs on, as it is a particularly devastating gun.

Exactly. The money that they are getting are the money that in regular military would be spent on equipment.

I don't mind Mercenaries when they do the job right. But using them in a war declared by the country that employs them is wrong. Soldiers are for warfare not Mercs. Mercs are for small operations such as political assassinations, protecting people, rescues, retrieving objects, etc but nothing as large in scale as a war.

You know these guys remind ma a lot of Ravenwood mercs from "Jericho" series. I dont suppose Blackwater was what gave them the inspiration?

Hah yes that was the idea actually. I think we mentioned that in one of the Jericho threads here. I know that particular thought has come up in more than a few discussions I have had about Jericho or Blackwater.

I doubt this will fly, those mercs are needed to protect embassy's and other government buildings, corporate investments, diplomats and high officials.

There's over 50,000 of them in Iraq, who is going to take over their jobs? The US military sure wont, they are preparing for troops cuts not increases.

Time to call in these guys I say:
