Caricature

Grin

Still Mildly Glowing
Don't know if this belongs here but I'll try nonetheless.

Lately I've been practicing my caricature drawings. Needless to say, what is a better place to place requests?
I'm sure this dark, vile mutated corner of the Internet has some characteristic and rustic faces in need of caricaturing.

Send me a decent picture of yourself and I'll bring out sides of persona you never thought you had.

But please, be patient, I don't have all the time in the world so it might take a week or two.

- Grin.

remove the googles and you look like benny from new vegas ~ or does benny look lik you ? Hard to tell I guess. Now where to get that kind of fancy suit ...

Do me first!

Did this one this morning, only took me about an hour. Unfortunately my scanner didn't get all the shading.

if you want some criticsm, you should try to spend more attention to the lips with this image (just as example, could be also the cheeks and particularly the hair). I am sure that as youre learning about caricatures youre somewhat aware about that the key for them is to exagerate the characteristics of a person. The hardest faces to make caricatures from are faces without traits ~ yes those do exist. With drawing realistic scenes the details have to match with each other, in size and quality like correct perspective and such. With caricatures this can be more or less ignored (not completely the basic principles or drawing still apply just that you have a lot more freedom) and it is far more important to concentrate on the indidivual characteristics of the person. So in other words the image you did looks in my eyes to similar to the real one which gives me the feeling that its more a try to simply copy the person/foto instead of making a caricature if I would not be knowing what your goal is with the drawing I would not get the idea that its meant to be a caricature

Oh, and I am not completely without skill, I do drawings by my self :3, not caricatures but still.

Keep up and at some point you will succeed. Making caricatures is a skill that can be learned !

Hey, I like that! :D

You captured something Faceless_Stranger-esque in that, so well done.

Thanks, I went for a more realistic look on this one, and it's still a draft really. Just trying to figure out what's the best approach.

But you're probably right, it's not exaggerated enough, still too realistic. But I'll remember that with the next one.

Just out of curiosity, what drawings do you do?

Makes me look badass :D I approve.

Good, and since there's no other takers, i'll give your picture another go but this time more caricature-esque.

well similar to what you show here things with pencil to say that. Just not meant as caricature. Could show some stuff.

*though I hope I was not to critical. I know that when it comes to own art one self is probably the worst critic anyway, and I have the habit to sound sometimes to rude even if its not meant that way. So to say that keep up the work :D

A few days ago I saw a taxi driver that looked like The Dude. Thought I'd share.

Alright, to be on topic: Grin, what you have provided is not really a caricature. I don't know why you would try to do a more realistic drawing in a topic with the promise of cartoon-like distortion.

How about sharing some of your previous sketches? While the idea of drawing forum members is fun, I don't think you'll get many requests. Of course, if you're drawing random people in the park I'm not sure how they'll feel happening upon them while browsing the internet. I say if you want to practice, while waiting for more forum member requests, draw some celebrities, big cats in the game industry, et cetera. Oh, and do share, of course.

this might be pretty dificult to draw as caricature because you cant really see much of the face.

Do show, you've piqued my interest my good man. And you weren't to critical, I understand a fellow's artist scrutinizing eye. :)

I'll try some celebrities if I don't get a better picture. How about Pete Hines? That should be easy, and an outlet to vent my frustration.

old pic but one of my favorites

I can try, but like Crni Vuk said, it won't be that easy since there's not much to go on.
Don't you have a better picture? With more features? And don't be shy, all I'll do is scrutinize every curve, every feature and exaggerate them to the extend of ridicule. :D
