Is anyone else following this piece of Internet drama?
I understand most of you probably don't care about drama or CA, but considering how influential CA was for the rise of the Internet, it's both entertaining and entirely depressing.

Jew Wario turned out to be a pedo, only two people remain on CA, the response has been weak at best and some of the stuff that happened has been unforgivable.

So who wants to join me in watching the burning of CA?
 
The name sounded vaguely familiar, and I love a good scandal, so I looked it up. Channel Awesome produced content like The Nostalgia Critic and The Angry Joe Show.

Can you give us a recap of what happened, (or a link to some more information), Millim?

Basically shenanigans of employees in Channel Awesome allegedly being treated like shit and a bunch of other stuff. The site went from having like 40 people to around 13 is span of a couple of days because of this. It's a shame really because i like some of people there and still see their videos regularly.

Thanks, Norzan. I can't say I'm exactly mourning the loss of anything. I personally have always found The Nostalgia Critic and The Angry Joe Show painfully unfunny. What was that about somebody being a pedophile, though? This just looks like a combined case of obsolescense and poor management to me.

One of the content creators got let go for some sexual abuse cases. That guy also killed himself back in 2014. Also it took years for CA to let him go.

There are now two People outside of NC who are on Channel Awesome.
They are Cinema Snob and Guru Larry. GL is just on there out of spite.

I used to like NC when he first started out, more for his perspective on old movies than jokes, but I haven't watched his stuff for a long time now. I've always thought AJ wasn't funny at all, and a bit of a twat.

Yeah, I probably only saw one or two videos which turned me off. I am a fan of some of his work outside of Nostalgia Critic, however...

Is it the tweet with a video called "Channel Awesome Last Men Standing" (or something similar)? Because yeah, it seems to imply Cinema Snob already left too.

Cinema Snob videos are still on the Channel Awesome site though.
 
Kinda stopped caring about CA when Film Brain didn't do Bad Movie Beatdowns, Spoony left, and the Nostalgia Critic got boring.
Suprised it still existed, really, I thought it kinda imploded after the Spoony drama.
 
IDK, after Spoony left, there's no value in CA left IMO. Nostalgia Critic is as cringy as his real liberal self can go, he's not very good at actual movie reviewing and criticism. After Spoony left his review career behind, there's no value in youtube left.
Wrong, there's still E;R but he's underdelivering lately.
 
Of ht Channel Awesome people I only ever watch Todd in the Shadows these days, and since I watch him directly on Youtube I don't even know if he's still with that carnival.
 
I have been following this since the Google Doc came out. It is amazing how poorly run this company is.

Basically there was a Google Document listing grievousness from former contributors. Then a few days later Channel Awesome put out a statement saying basically "We're sorry you felt that way." Which caused a bunch of contributors to quit.

Then as shit was settling down, Channel Awesome decides to pour gasoline on the fire by releasing a statement calling the former contributors vindictive liars. Which basically caused all the contributors to quit, except for the Cinema Snob(who is staying because he is friends with the Walkers) and Guru Larry(Who wants to see the world burn).

Yeah, instead of them apologizing and trying to make amends, i assume Mike Michaud just decided to come up with rebuttals for several complaints on the document. Besides just making things worse than they already were, he didn't addressed a lot of the other complaints.
