Courier Names

The Man From Nowhere

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Do any of you bother to name your Couriers something of significance? Or that pertains to the themes and meaning of New Vegas? Perhaps has deeper religious, philosophical, or historical meaning that fits into the Fallout Universe.

I named one of my male Couriers Nemo for instance, which means nobody in Latin. I found this fitting for a man who comes from out of nowhere and pretty unknown at first, only to change the course of the Mojave desert forever.

My female Courier I named Iris, whom is messenger of the gods along with Hermes (this suits for a male courier) which is fitting for a Courier of such significance.

I also used Liberty once for one of my main couriers who went with Yes man and Independence.

Any you've all got to share, and the meaning behind each one?

I honestly came up with a single name for my male courier and never switched it.

Abraham Drake, I don't think there is any real meaning behind it. Now that I read it, it sounds cringey as hell and I really regret naming character like this, but what can you do?

That reminds me, I really have to come up with a new name, this one just doesn't work for me anymore.

I just named him Baxter. No real significance, just thought my character looked like a Baxter. Think Gary Oldman but with a larger forehead.

I just choose whatever name comes to mind. The only two that I remember are Miranda Zero, for my female courier and Corvus Nebraska for my male.

The way I name my Couriers in New Vegas is simple. I think that the NCR ending is canon and the NCR Ending character will be the main show wihle the others are non-canon spin-offs. His name is simply Daniel. Now I'm doing my 2nd 100% Playthrough which is an Independent Mafiaman. He will have a surname alongside the name "Daniel". I called him Daniel Serrano (back when I did so I didn't know how I came up with Serrano but then after a week I realized it was a reference to Max Payne 3's Serrano). My third 100% playthrough will be a businesswoman with a Mr. House ending (can change). Her name will be Danielle Harrington. Then the last 100% playthrough will be a psychopathic, insane and very evil man with a Legion ending. His name will be Daniel J. Augustus (J stands for Julius). The surnames are chosen depending on who the character sides with (for example Daniel J. Augustus who will join the Legion) or what they are (for example Daniel Serrano, the Independent Mafiaman.)

Daniel?

I named my female Chosen One "Syara" so I pick that name whenever I roleplay a tribal girl. I just like the sound of it, I suppose.

I've actually chosen names for planned builds that are based on actual characters from history, famous lawmen and outlaws of the west, american presidents, army generals, soldiers, even some video game character names. Some of the names include:

Custer
Doolin
Wyatt
Rooseveldt
Lincoln
Washington
Calamity
Sonya
Guile
Cammy
Carmelita

I match up each name to a specific build and the faction they ally with in the end.

In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red.
Well Mejia, is my Khan jethead, turned Merc playthrough. And then there is Maurice, my bountyhunter character who's addiction happens to be whisky.

Oh, oh yeah, Lincon. Remember now a courier mine with "this" name. Actually his name was Abe, Abe Capone, a omerta thug. He uses that "Honest Abe" bear, a pre war suit and a 45mm smg.

He did not last long. was a game "dead is dead" and he was torn apart by the laser machine guns in the fort bunker.

Fun thread that one in old Bethesda forum, when we challenged ourselves to finish the game without dying. I never got it, I think it's because I only play in the very hard.

had once I beat all the quests, all dlcs and died in the dam's second battle. With full health and good armor, a centurion exploded my head with a single shot of an AMR. until today I wonder if it was a critical hit.

Edit: man, I should back to NV for another try. Have so many fun with this challenge. I remember a tribal girl unarmed oriented, that was killed in honest hearts. Left a cave and sundelly I was surround by giants mantis. That things are dangerous man.

Have a guy that went to Divide early on, sold all the courier stash and bought a riot gear for better protection and then returned to the mojave. dead when I made a fast travel to the hq repconn to retrieve the ranger's body. the fiends there got me as soon as I showed up on the map. They have hunting rifles, a super powerful weapon in NV.

Another one, level 21 or 22. Remember very well his name, Big Iron. Die in vault 11, after the stupid ed-e step into a trap full of explosives (how can he step on something?)

My companions die too. Ed-e once by golden geckos in camp searchlight. Boone and Veronica, die for cazador's poison.

You cant forget this things when you play Dead is Dead

Courier Six is fine by me. offers a smidgeon of anonymity and you get the bonus of everyone calling you by some variation of the name.

In the playthrough I just started, I named mine "Otis Seuss", which kinda sounds like Odysseus, making him a counterpart to Ulysses.

My first courier's name was Dick Tucker... yeah.
The second courier (female this time) I dubbed Rebecca Sallow, and started a legion playthrough with her. In my mind she is the lost daughter of Caesar trying to help her father reclaim the mojave? Doesn't really makes sense but I was out of ideas.
I would play Fallout New Vegas much more but my pc is pretty average and constantly crashes when I play, rendering the game almost unplayable. I suffered through 200 hours and probably 100+ crashes before giving up. Can't wait to get a better rig, install some cool ass mods, and play another 200.
