Dead Money hints at things to come

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
Ausir at the Vault has penned up an article where he details most of the speculation that's been circulating on the various Fallout fansites (including this and the Vault itself) for a bit. The arguments are pretty solid, so if you're interested in what the new DLCs may be give it a read.
Dead Money was first hinted via in-game graffiti. The textures for these graffiti are in a folder in the game files called "nvdlcgraffiti", and all the textures share the filename "nvgraffitisierra". Interestingly, this folder contains a number of other textures, sharing the filename "nvgraffitihonesthearts". These read:

"Where's New Canaan, anyway?"
"The Burned Man Walks!"
"Joshua Graham Lives!"

This implies that one of the future add-ons will be titled Honest Hearts and will feature Joshua Graham, Caesar's former right hand, who is also known as the Burned Man, as he was set on fire and thrown into the Grand Canyon for his defeat during the First Battle of Hoover Dam

Ausir: # http://rdir.pl/14vz5f - more hints at things to come in New Vegas

# @DaveOshry I actually intend to post a more detailed summary of hints at future DLC that we've found so far at The Vault soon - stay

# @DaveOshry Well, the references in Dead Money pretty much confirm

# @DaveOshry It wasn't talked about officially - just that Ulysses was cut from the game itself but might appear in some form eventually

DaveOshry: ! @Fallout#NewVegas DLC rumor has been updated and now contains more VaultWiki links than you can shake a flagpole at. Thanks @VaultAusir

From what I understand there's no conspiracy or ripping off involved here.

Well, I did expect them to paraphrase it or mark it as a quote, not to copypaste it. Or if you do copypaste, you should include the appropriate Creative Commons licensing information. Still, I don't really care that much, at least it has a shitload of links to Vault articles now.

Exactly.

Hey Guys, Sorry About That!!

Hey guys,

Dave Oshry here from RipTen

Sorry if the article updates read a little copy pastey - I assure you it wasn't actual copy paste - just terrible paraphrasing on my part.

It was late and I was adding updates to an article that wasn't my own and I didn't want to inject my own writing style into one of my staff writer's articles. In doing so I ended up sort of just generically re-iterating what Ausir said without realizing just how similar my sentences were to his.

I re-created all those links and also added links to Vault articles in the parts of our story that were written before I included Ausir's updates.

Those of you here who know me know that as a long time Fallout fan I greatly value resources like NMA and TheVault and would never intentionally steal anyone's hard work without giving proper due.

I've also cleared this up with Ausir (Pawel).

Feel free to crucify me in Nipton now :(

Edit: I've since had the original author go over the article and make his own changes. I've also added even more Vault links.

For my own personal crimes against journalism I have also donated some caps to TheVault via PayPal :D

Damn, there are still honest men out there. And I was just about to press that red button.

Yeah, I was about to post that I've cleared things up with Dave. :) Thanks for the post and the donation!

I'll guess the next DLC will bring the player to New Canaan then and the final battle might be at the Big Empty.

Personally, I like this kind of mini-storytelling from DLC to DLC, especially if it's not only 60 minutes of content..

You're welcome Pawel,

Even though RipTen is far from a serious business gaming site - I take my job as it's editor and co-owner very seriously and try to be fully transparent with both our writers and readers at all times.

That being said, I like the possibility of where this DLC may take the game. Since learning about Ulysses a while back I always thought he was a very interesting character - the fact that he may be involved with The Burned Man is even more interesting.

I will try to reach out to MCA for confirmation of any details :)

Nice to know that it's all been cleared up without drama.

...now find me another guy to crucify in Nipton, that spot won't fill by itself.

I agree in both accounts. :hatersgonnahate:

Glad that got sorted out. I didn't want this to turn into a "Cooks Source" situation (google Cooks Source if you don't know what I'm talking about).
