DLC

Ugh, I get the impression that Bethesda wants to handle the DLCs for Fallout New Vegas themselves.
Even if Fallout New Vegas will turn out good it will most likely be dragged down by Bethesda's creations.

A couple of days I came up with this scenario and I think it is not that far fetched for Bethesda to do.

DLC: Area 51

The Enclave has taken over Area 51/Groom Lake/Dreamland and are now capturing humans and mutants and are trading them to the aliens of Mothership Zeta in return for weapons and technology.

I would love to see Area 51 in Fallout New Vegas, but rather made by Obsidian than Bethesda.

Edit: Grammar error :P

Here's a solution if New Vegas ends up being any good. Don't download the DLC.

Most likely that will be the best solution.

Funny, once again DLCs that are suppose to expand the main game actually drag it down.

Or maybe there will be one relatively enjoyable DLC, but it will have absolutely nothing to do with Fallout (ex: Point Lookout).

If Obsidian did it it would probably be slightly anti climatic "well of course there weren't any aliens we made that crap up" and you get to explore a disused empty base.
Nice, darkly humoured and gritty just like people want their games to be.
:P

Well maybe they'll just add armour sets and weapons or something, like Bioware do. That or a 50ft tall Geckozilla... :V

Heh heh, I was thinking the same Alphadrop.

If I could take a take on it, most of the surface base would be destroyed after a near hit of a ICBM/Nuclear warhead (like Deus Ex 1!), giving the player the impression that everything there was is gone.

There would be an underground facility which you can access, and while looking around there you would indeed find alien corpses and spaceship wreckages, but also information that it was all deception to throw the American people of what the US government was really doing.

Typical Bethesda bullshit. Think about DLC months before the game is planned to come out. Beautiful.
I smell ALIENS god dammit!

DLC: Area 51
This is the first thing I thought of when I saw the topic title.

A lot of the "Fallout fans" (ones which have only played Fallout 3) are hoping for Area 51 full of aliens, Bethesda probably realizes this and if they're the one who makes it I'm going to be pissed.

Aliens were never meant to be canon, to think that Mothershit Zeta probably could have been avoided if Interplay didn't put the alien ship Easter Egg in Fallout 1 in the first place.

That's a great example of long time choice and consequence. Choice: Put an alien easteregg in Fallout 1, consequence 10 years later: Alien DLC for Fallout 3, which even hints to the point that aliens caused the great war. :>

But the "old" fallout had alianz ;)

Wanamingos are no aliens. They are FEV experiments. This thing has been discusses already like 100 batzillions of times. Check out the wiki article as well.

If your being sarcastic you need at least 15 more roll eye smileys or else people might miss the bleedin' obvious. :P

But didn't Fallout 2 have aliens ?
Around San Fransisco or so? Well, at least they didn't canonise them :/
The "Alienz caused teh nukkelar wars!!!" claim in Mothershit just pissed me the fuck off.

ahum check out the link Lexx posted.. unless you are also being sarcastic...

Going past the whole alien discussion now, I hope that Obsidian will make the DLCs, and that they use the opportunity to bring in some of the locations and quests they had planned for Van Buren.

Next to an Area 51 DLC (which would be rather like Deus Ex's version than that of the X Files/Alien Conspiracy nuts) by Obsidian, I would also like them to make a DLC that includes the Nursery, completely as they had planned it.

A vault dedicated to preserve nature, containing the seeds to restore the wasteland back to life.

Edit:

My alternate take on Area 51 would be that the place really is just a test and development center for advanced plane designs, missile and rocket technology, and stealth technology.

When the player would come here he or she would find the wreckages of various planes and half assembled rockets and missiles.

One or two still working computers would reveal what kind of work was going on but also make it clear that outside the plane, rocket and propulsion technology development there is absolutely no conspiracy stuff here whatsoever.

Oh, I know what would make the potential Area 51 DLC great...

What if we find more than just aliens there? What if it turns out the aliens we've seen so far aren't really aliens, but some kind of government experiment gone really, really wrong? For example, what if it turns out they were originally humans exposed to an earlier and experimental FEV-like substance and they just went completely insane and horrably mutated, stole the experimental ship and watched too many "War of the World" re-runs?
Now, that would be a twist.

If Bethesda releases DLC within day one or a week of the game being out that is going to be some bullshit.

The people who actually argue about DLC being a good thing to have on release day of a game are f*cking idiots. The best argument you could bring up with that I guess would be . . .

"Well DLC was done most likley before the game released so at least we are getting it early"

I say: So what that is very unprofessional & show's that your company is greedy from a business stand point. Then from a consumer stand point, it makes people feel like there not buying the whole complete game, that there paying for somthing incomplete. Regardless if there was 10 DLC's already made & ready before release date, it is asinine to release the content within a week of the game being out.

Here is hoping Bethesda at least wait's a week or two before releasing DLC. In a perfect world I would argue about there being DLC for a game period until its been out for months. Then you know they made the content after the game was released.

I think Area 51 would be a good DLC though for sure
