Evolution

First time out of the vault
I would like to know what everyone thinks about creatures in Fallout evolving as time goes on.
For instance, a deathclaw developes new hunting techniques in order to close in on you, or hunt in packs so they could attack from the side, or back implimenting more damage...
Maybe, this could span to humans as well, so raiders could develope attack patterns based on how many you have killed in the past and other action within the game.
What do you guys think?

I think you mean adaptation; evolution referrers to a process over many, many generations. Adaptation is more immediate, and, I think, in the right place, adaptation could be good, but, in the wrong place, it would look silly. If you wipe out a bunch of raiders, it wouldn't make sense to have the next group somehow know and then report back, but if you were fighting robots or organized, militaristic enemies, adaptation would be more in place.

You are right, I do mainly mean adaptation.
But I really mean both evolution and adaptation.
Evolution in the sense that animals would actually change their physical characteristics based on their location in the game.... Critters in higher radiation zones would look distinctivley different then critters of the same type in other locations.. Something along those lines. Sorry, I kind of left that out of my previous statement.

Gotcha. So you've got *two* ideas. Have certain critters adapt to your tactics, as appropriate; and have certain natural critters behave in different ways and have different appearances based on their environment. Two sound, basic ideas in my never-to-be-humble opinion.

Deathclaws are gone. Read the Fallout Bible.

Raiders developing new tactics? Why bother? They're raiders, and F3 is going to be a "Survival Horror game".

I think it's a good idea, words go fast in the wasteland, if you're a hard arse motherfucker, then you should even find that raiders leave you alone...IMHO

Of course, even if you are known as a "good guy" they should be more aggressive in their fighting style, then if you are a bad ass, they should run more often or possible want to follow you........

On another note, what if you killed a bunch of one type of animal....kill all the green bunnies...would only white bunnies be left?
How about killer monkies excaped from the zoo, learning to use tools to kick some as.. could be a special enconter or something.

I was thinking that there should also be a possibility of getting sick from not having proper closing or chemical protection.... not just radiation or drug sick, but flu and cold sick which affect your ability to swing hard or fire accuratly. You could however develope immunities from those sicknesses but just as in real life, they are always changing around our immunities..... maybe thats too real but something along these lines would add something extra to the game I think.

Oh, yeah. Wouldn't it be cool if you could drop your aim accidentally by sneezing when you got a cold? And if you sneeze into your rifle, the rust might eventually break it!!!111

I don't think so.

that might be something, when I first played fallout2 with all the highwaymen attacking caravans and stuff like that, I allways kicked the caravans ass in the hope of joining the raiders/highwaymen/robers...

Maybe you could set up a base at some random building by kicking out the current resident and start running a drug company or something. Hire a guy to run to shop and come and pick up your cut every Thursday.

Wouldn't that be another game ? Of course one could argue it would be naaaaice, but in the end it's too much of a turn into a strategy game then the RPG that we want.

Hence why many have created different game types.

Just wait for my Fallout mod for Civilization (oooh it's a looong way off) 8)

Yes, maybe, but it doesn't have to be part of a stratagy. As you become more karma induced, certain options should become availble, such as bossing people around in your own shop.

By the way what is this civilization mod and where can I check it out?

Give me some of your guys ideas about how a character/critter/raider could adapt to how you act. (This sounds like fable or some shnit). Thats not what I'm thinking of though. Help me out guys.

I've been waiting for the Civilization III Fallout mod from Odin for at least a year and a half now! :x

Its not ready yet, to answer KillerJoe123's question.

That's because I'm only doing for myself and it's not a priority in my life 8)

Indeed. P'nP roleplaying, glowstick parties and gay porn always come first.

Why do I feel like George Michael all of a sudden, or at least you make it sound like that..

But back on topic, making choices like that for a RPG game sorta crosses the genre. Sure it might be cool, but face it... developers have enough to think about..

KillerJoe123, you came up with one helluva idea. great. in The Postman(post-nuclear movie) features a new race of cats. Half tiger/lion half good o'l Puma. i was thinking more looted labs with masses of excaped critters. even thought out a new race, would be great as playing character. if there is interest i'd make a pic of it...

Looks like you need to read it again. TALKING deathclaws are extinct (or will be once Xarn and Goris die), DEATHCLAWS will live on however.
