Fallout 1 Original CD work on Windows 98 SE ?

First time out of the vault
Hey all,
After several attempts, I was able to install Fallout 2 on Windows 98SE (chose the second biggest size version). Sure, I still get freezes and such but found out a workaround, to simply keep CD in drive, restart PC, and avoiding splash screen and starting it directly from the directory. Works most of the times, but still needs restarts (1 out of 4 times or so).

As for Fallout 1. I take it that it was worse than Fallout 2 on Win98SE ?

Any suggestions and help? Will it work on Win98SE for someone without deep programming skills?

Thanks in advance

Fo1 was mainly designed for MS-DOS but it has a separate executable for windows.
If You plan to run Fo1 under win 98SE i suggest you run clean instal without any mods.
High resolution patch for Fo1 definetly does not work under win98SE as for sfall, a lot never version of sfall than present in FIXT 0.81a (try Crafty's sfall1 v1.8) there are instructions inside the zip file how to make sfall1 work under old windowses. Generally a Hex editor is requierd if you are up to it.
