Fallout 2 maybe Fallout 1 hazy memory of AI causing the nuclear war

Shreevy

First time out of the vault
I played fallout 1 and 2 multiple times throughout my teenager years and loved them to bits

There is a military base that I swear I can remember finding logs of an AI that proved if not at least heavily hinted at that it started the nuclear war. However I can not find any proof of it anywhere, it was furthest up to the right of that specific floor. I can remember it being very difficult to retrieve the logs as I only got them once throughout alot of play throughs.

Can any one corroborate or at am I mad.

You find that information at the BOS bunker in San Francisco when you start a conversation with the computer intelligence.

And I think in general it should be considered as "just a rumor" without there being evidence to back it up.

Fallout 3 Mother ship Zeta suggested that it were aliens who started the great war after capturing army personnel and no credence is given to that.

Yeah the ACE at the Brotherhood outpost in San Francisco says that it has been speculated that AIs who got *bored* started the Great War

@The Dutch Ghost While the bored military AIs causing the Great War is a silly, wacky idea that fits the tone of FO2, its not really comparable to the "aliens did it" that was thankfully cut from the alien DLC, as it is still the fault of mankind and his hubris. Those AIs were made by the military for researching weapons, and then left unsupervised.
