Mix it with Destiny and sprinkle some Borderlands in there and you get FO4.Minecraft is actually a pretty good game though.
I can't say if it's good or bad, but it is interesting. So the "top prize" is not chosen by the "experts" but by the members of BaftaWas Fallout 4 taking the best game Bafta the oddest result of the night?
Arguably, but you have to bear in mind that while a panel of judges produced the shortlist, the top prize was determined by the wider Bafta membership taking a vote.
That wasn't the case for the other categories, which were chosen by individual judging panels.
The Fallout series has been nominated six times and this is its first win. So, while this post-apocalyptic retro-future holds the attentions of its fans, it seems it didn't grab the "experts" to the same degree.
Metal Gear Solid 5, Alien: Isolation, Undertale, Arkham Knight, Hotline Miami 2, Mario Party 10, Pillars of Eternity, Mortal Kombat X, Mad Max, Super Mario Maker, Bloodborne and, Just Cause 3 all released last year. But in all fairness to Bethesda, other than Witcher 3 there wasn't really any AAA game in 2015 that was better than Fallout 4, unless I'm mistaken?
Bioshock infinite was 2013. The others in that list are either not AAA games (Pillars was a kickstarter project, Undertale) or not as good as Fallout 4 in my opinion, with the one exception being that I did not play Metal Gear Solid 5 so I don't know about that one.Metal Gear Solid 5, Undertale, Arkham Knight, Hotline Miami 2, Bioshock Infinite, Mario Party 10, Pillars of Eternity, Mortal Kombat X, Mad Max, Super Mario Maker, Bloodborne and, Just Cause 3 all released last year.
EDIT: good recommendation @Spacemunkey, 2015 was a solid year for video games.
I don't understand why only AAA titles should be considered for GOTY, Undertale, PoE and, Hotline Miami were all fantastic games.Bioshock infinite was 2013. The others in that list are either not AAA games (Pillars was a kickstarter project, Undertale)
I wholeheartedly recommend Metal Gear Solid, by far and away my favourite game of the year, it's a shame it got stiffed by the GOTY awards because of it's shitty story.with the one exception being that I did not play Metal Gear Solid 5 so I don't know about that one.
Arkham Knight has a shitty rating because it was buggy as fuck on PC (it also had a shitty story), this site should understand that criticism about bugs should be a secondary concern to the overall worth of the product, after all New Vegas had the same problem.Arkham Knight has a 2.2 metacritic score for a reason as well.
From what I understand you like Fallout 4 as a Borderlands clone, not as a Fallout game which is fine but if you look at it as a sequel then it fails in just about every way. It takes what was formerly a great RPG franchises and turns it into a shooter; if we award games for streamlining systems that worked perfectly then we're actively taking part in and, advocating the dumbing down of video games and, games of literary worth at that, not your average dollar store shooter but a game that legitimately works as a critique on capitalism, Mccarthyism, Etc. If we give Bethesda awards for fucking up shit then we're actively taking part in fucking shit up.So for me, as strange as it sounds, Fallout 4 was the second best AAA game of 2015 if I am comparing it to that list. But that's not really saying much - the other AAA games of 2015 aside from Witcher 3 are kind of shallow for me and I'm not interested in any of those other games besides Pillars of Eternity (which is great) and Just Cause 3 which I haven't played yet.
Completely agreed, the awards are practically bought and sold.None of this really matters anyway because gaming awards are just marketing.
takes what was formerly one of the greatest RPG franchises
