War. War never changes.
In 2077 the most feared finally happened; a nuclear bomb struck most of known America, and it finally came to realization: the aliens arrived. The Chinese worked with Mothership Zeta, and bombed the US to the ground, at 7pm in the middle of the night. Those lucky to survive, either ended up in closed areas, or became feral ghouls.
Even the brave men, in X-01 Enclave Power Armor couldn't survive, some might say the power armor was from the future, but they couldn't hold the dusin of radiations. Luckily, the Vaults closed in time, the bombs was build to first kill people 10 seconds after it struck, so if you were hit, you had to wait 10 seconds, or elevate yourself to the local vault.
This story takes place in New York, a city filled with drug abusers. In 2070 the government made a 'Jet-destruction pact', because the Jet was getting out of hand. Suddenly, everyone had jet, your grandmother, your father, the local whore, and even the local Assaultron had one.
After the War, New York became the city of a local group named the NCR. The NCR is the New Caesar Regime an empire build upon the Super Mutants.
The story of the NCR is quite interesting, a man found out about FEV, brought it from the Maste... I mean Father, and afterwards used it to create Super Mutants, to cure the Jet that hit his daughter, who then became a companion of the Sacrificed Ape.
The Sacrificed Ape is you. You were born in the local vault, Vault 13. Vault 13 was built in 1945 right after World War 3, and you are here to seek your grandmother, a woman who loves Jet. Some say she is the legend of jet, and it is you who must find them. This is your adventure. This is you. (you are also a teacher, who loves kids and was built on the promise of godness and you are therefore angel's child and you cannot be evil in any way because you were born in to convenient writing) but otherwise you are free to find your grandmother and join the NCR or some other faction with the same ending.
