Fallout: A Post Nuclear role playing game size

SorgFall

Still Mildly Glowing
I have installed the original (v1.0) of the game (US version), and then the semi-official Interplay v1.2 patch (which includes the official v1.1 patch) for the English language version and I've noticed a little buggy thing.

The game occupies a bit under 570 and a half MBs of my disk size - however, in the Setup, the 'HUMONGOUS INSTALLATION' (original, v1.0 unpatched, the patches don't increase the size greatly anyway) notes that it requires over 644 MBs of free space. Is there a possibility that my game lacks files or something (it's not unnoticeable through gameplay), or is it just a bug?

I don't think anything is wrong. I have a fresh installation of Fallout 1, and it only takes up 545 MB of space. I think the "bloated" calculation counts the amount of page file space you need to be able to play the game.

That's just my guess, but it would make sense.

If MASTER.DAT is 318 MB and CRITTER.DAT is 150 MB then you should be fine.

A full Fo1 save folder takes up several MBs of size, probably not around 50 though.

My MASTER.DAT is 333 MBs and CRITTER is yeah, 150. Per, how's yours?

It's a fresh not-yet-played install.

It's fine. The required space includes save and estimated cache space. Just play the game, you should be fine.
