Fallout modding wiki

Ausir

Venerable Relic of the Wastes
I've been thinking about opening another sister project for The Vault at Wikia - a Fallout modding wiki. It would serve as:

1) a place for documentation of Fallout editors (and hopefully the Fallout 3 construction set), Fallout file formats and modding techniques
2) a database of Fallout mods, both the available ones and those in construction
3) a place where modders who don't want to set up their own wikis can collaborate on their projects

What do you think?

Yeah, the Fallout modding wiki would host the original Fallout documentation, while FIFE wiki would have the updated version with FIFE-specific stuff added.

So, how about "Vault-Tec Labs - A Fallout modding wiki"? :)

Nice idea! A modding-wiki for Fallout would be cool. So we could also move all the tutorials and other stuff, that was created until now. (and maybe will be created in the future) :)

Ausir, the guardian of the Fallout knowledge strikes again...

Excellent idea, btw :ok: The precious Fallout Modification FAQ made by dude_obj should be implemented there and updated as soon as possible. As well as other documents and info.

Because you think that this wiki will be useful, I requested its creation - it should be up by tomorrow. Any ideas on what else could this wiki cover? Maybe database of fanmade resources such as sprites etc?\

Any other existing resources that should be included there (like guides, tutorials, etc, with their authors' permissions, of course)?

I can donate all my tutorials (3x scripting and 1x graphics) and all graphical works I've made for various mods/projects. However, the resources like sprites need space, any limits we should be aware of?

Good to hear it'll be up&running soon...

Actually, we won't be able to upload sprites etc. but they could always be uploaded to NMA or DAC and linked from the wiki and categorized there.

Hmm. I have some free space (approx 1GB left). I could create a new ftp account or someone writes a script for file uploading, and so on.

I started adding some stuff but at the moment, I have not enough time.

Jepp. And even if nobody would like it (what I don't hope)... there is still some stuff inside, that could interest some modders. ;)

But I don't know, how it is going with the english translation.. :/ I think, Lisac has other and more important things to do, then the translation.

Well, a significant part of the text files has been translated already. I believe I'm going to finish the rest of it till 30. September.

Ah, this would be nice. :) Then.. while the next weeks, I can fix some more bugs, that are still ingame.

About the new wiki... I created two new artices. "Fallout 1 Mods" and "Fallout 2 Mods". But now I realised, that it would be better to use the categorys. I created the two articles because I wanted to separate "mods in progress" and "mods released". But I think, this could be also done as a category. (so the two article sites would be obsolet)

Any opinions to this?

Yeah, there already are Fallout mods and Fallout 2 mods categories which can be divided into
"mods in progress" and "mods released".

Hey, I have pasted a couple of tutorials and made a start on listing some mods. It would be real nice if the actual modders collaborated on tutorials. At the moment 3 scripting guides are up:

Agrajags "Scripting - Getting started" Guide
Agrajags "Scripting - Getting started" Guide "part 11 - Macros"
Scripting Tutorial by Jargo

But it would be better to break it up into specific chunks and not generic articlas.

I just wrote a quick megamod article and will be filling in the details of all the mods in it.

edit

Just spent a few hours on there:
