Fallout 3 took E3 by storm, but Fallout: New Vegas kind of didn't, in the first few best of lists at least. We'll do a round-up of these later because honestly who cares, but for now Fallout: New Vegas is nowhere to be seen in GameSpot's user poll (but you have the power to change that!). It's not mentioned by GamePro, while it wins runner-up at best RPG over at 1up. It did win best RPG from IGN.

Needed more explosions and better graphics. Gosh, why were they talking about stupid shit like gambling and game mechanics when they could show bullets every fucking where hitting exploding nuke cars?

EDIT: Wait a fucking minute. On 1up's RPG list, they list Star Wars: The Old Republic as the best RPG, despite it being an MMO. Right fucking below it is the MMO category, and it is being beat out by a fucking LEGO game. What are you doing 1Up? Get your shit together.

Fallout 3 got multiple "best of E3!" awards for a hands-off demo showing Megaton and the Behemoth fight.

Fallout: New Vegas lets you demo through the Strip and go into a way more tactical fight with apparently better FPS combat in the Mojave Desert, and doesn't get shit in an overall much poorer year for RPGs (I mean, The Old Republic winning best RPG? That's not even its genre).

Excuse me if I go "roofles" here, and "stop the bullshits, start the truths".

Yes, demoing gambling mini-games that can be played on countless internet websites is quite impressive.

Doesn't matter. The Fallout 3 demo was tepid. All it took time to show off was how awesome the cars looked exploding, or how awesomely you could explode Megatron, or this awesome portable nuclear launcher versus a megakamehame supermutant...

...nevermind, I figured out why journalists liked the Fallout 3 presentation better.

Journalist's thoughts at Fallout 3 video demo:
"WOAH LOOK HE'S FIGHTING A SUPERORK WITH A NUKE GUN! WOW, THE NUKE GUN IS EXPLODING CARS INTO NUKES TOO! NOW HE'S LAUNCHING TEDDY BEARS AT RAIDERS AND EXPLODING THEM! 10/10 BEST RPG I'VE EVER SEEN!"

Journalist's thoughts at Fallout: New Vegas hands-on demo:
"Why am I fighting humans and not orks? Why did they give me C4 instead of the nuke gun? Why can't I duel wield this 1887 Winchester shotgun? Why does this red shield keep popping up and why does it take so long to kill people? Fail. 6/10. Bethesda is better at Fallout because they made it."

On the Gamespot list, note that it's dominated by single-platform games, because each platform for multi-platform games is treated as a separate game.

Most of the top 15 are PC games…interesting that, in a world dominated by consoles…and yes I think most console users also have PCs at their disposal.

This just further makes me believe that bethesda was sliding these reviewers some money under the table. It feels like a better game than fallout 3 and it sure as fuck has better combat functionality.

I don't know....I just don't know.

Only SW:TOR and Starcraft 2 are PC-exclusive in Gamespot's top 10.

Oh, man, i am sorry guys, i just can't care anymore about the second generation of Fallout. Made by Obsidian or not. It's lost. It's silly. It's stupid. We shall see the end product, but it's not worth it. It won't hold the same Fallout magic the first one did and half that the second one did. It won't be Fallout, and even if we reconcile with that fact, it won't be an amazing game. After all, the new Bethesda is still involved, if even a little.

This is sorta logical, really: the "newness" of the product is gone. FO3 had a lot going for it, this is just "more of the same".

Sad but true. F3 wasn't the kind of smash-hit that has gaming 'journalists' tripping over themselves to cover, especially now that we haven't seen a single nuclear explosion or man in space marine armour.

I am curious if New Vegas will sell better or worse than F3. My gut reaction is worse - as has been said, it doesn't have the allure of EXCITING NEW FRANCHISE REBOOT BETHESDA STYLE. I might be wrong. I hope so.

Its coming second to some Zelda game on gamespot's poll results. Thats pretty impressive really.

that because many FO1/2 fans was giving FO3 the benefit of the doubt and voting for it...

FO las vegas regarded as an expansion at best, plus compared to other games it was un impressive, considering all the game aspects that was shown rage should be considered better post apocalyptic and RPG game...

unless someone seen some FOLV interview showing dialoge and RPG elements? new places yes, new minigames yes, better design yes but as for the rest its was all about better weapons better fighting ...

Not really. They were vastly outnumbered by Bethesda fans who haven't played Fallout 1 and 2.

They're showing what the majority wants to see, unfortunately. They have been talking about RPG elements in various interviews, but I wouldn't expect any in E3 demonstrations.
