Fallout props/costume for Comic-con -PIC HEAVY

First time out of the vault
I'm getting my Fallout costume ready for Philly Comic-con and decided to finish a few things before June. I'll post more here as I get things done.

My newest project is a slave collar but made for Fallout 1. In my basement recently I found this set of halloween shackles. I don't remember what I bought them for but it would make a great base for a slave collar.

I cut the back and fit it around my neck so now my next step is to figure out how to add a hinge to the back and some details to make it look more realistic. I'm thinking of modifing the pepakura slave collar extras parts and building a less advanced collar that might have been in Fallout 1 or 2.

You may have seen my other post about the pipboy 2000 I'm working on. After I finish the prop I'll be adding a leather strap to it or maybe add it to my belt.

also here is a glove I have to turn black. LEt me know what you think so far. I'll be posting my chosen one outfit as soon as I dye it the right color.

Looks interesting, but what is your actual specific concept? What props would give people a clue that you're dressed as someone from the Fallout universe? Can't wait to see more of your costume.

Power armor costume would be awesome ! Togheter with minigun. Now someone dress as super mutant and nothing will stop you :D !

*Edit

Though chance is that if you dress as "old" Fallout stuff ... people might give you comments how cool it is but it might be better to use "real" Fallout stuff since all they eventualy know is Fallout 3 and thus think what you have is just your own style

Thanks for the response guys. My concept is an original vault dweller that went out into the world only to be captured by the slavers but eventually got free. I was thinking that or I may stick closely to the original concept or vaultboy drawings. Like this one, except I will have a color closer to Fallout 3 so that new fans will recognize me right away.

I am going to be dressed in a full vault costume. I'll have my pipboy and if I have the time I'm going to make the original 10mm SMG. I may add a few extras but since it will probably be hot I'm going to keep my equipment light. And one of the only problems I have besides trying to get the damn shirts to match my pants is that I have a bunch of weapons but not enough hands. I have a magnum, sawed off shotgun, mueser, colt 45, and a dessert eagle. So I've got to figure out the best set up. Here are the shin guards I may wear that still need to be finished.

I've been making a lot of progress but sadly my camera isn't working right now so I have to use my camera phone. I've dyed some clothes to be my vault costume but I'm having a hard time matching color. Also, the bleach I bought to get my clothes white was bargain stuff so it's watered down and is not doing anything so I have to get some rit color remover or some strong bleach. I have made at least a couple shirts so far thinking my friends were going to be vault dwellers as well but instead I think we are doing a video games of the 90's group. I guess I'll just keep the extra shirts for a later date. Here is my costume so far.

For my Pipboy I have added alot of details and I'm almost finished except I have to redo the screen. I thought a fiberglass screen polished would be nice but it keeps straitening itself out so it's nearly useless. I'm doing the screen in another way but we'll see how it turns out before I post any progress on it.
This picture isn't totally up to date.

And I have started a 10mm SMG. I had an airsoft gun that hasn't been used in a long time so I dismantles it and I am using the handle and lower part of the gun as my starting point. I'm torn though if I should stick with my original plan to do all Fallout 1 gear or if I should just jump right to the Fallout 3 SMG. Let me know what you think. I'm not sure I'll get all of my weapons done in time but we'll see. Below are two versions. One is a very old one I was toying around with but it's alittle smaller than it should be. And the second is the MP5 handle I'll be using now. I maye still do something with the old SMG but I'm not sure yet.

The bolter... eh 10mm SMG looks nice. I am tensed to see the final result.

Also don't use the Fallout 3 SMG, as it looks ugly, imo. The Fallout 1 / 2 10mm SMG is the right way to go.

Hey everyone, thank you for your comments. I'm hoping this will end up epic. I'm having such a hard damn time with matching the colors for some reason. Anyone have some tips for me? I've done this a million time before but it's just not working with such a dark color.

And I will eventually make the Fallout 3 SMG but I've decided for now just to focus on Fallout 1/2 SMG. I love it so why not.

Also, I'm thinking of adding shoulder pads but can't decide whether these will work well or not. And whether I should have one or two. Either way I need to paint them and add some leather underneath. Let me know what you think.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical back when you posted that thread about making a pipboy, but I must say...i'm liking this. I agree. This definitely has the potential to be epic. Keep it up, dude!

Thank you guys. I've been planning this costume for awhile so it's great to see you like it as much as I do. It really means a lot.

Time for updates! I have just finished dying my shirt and pants and did a bit extra washes to add some grime and grease look to the costume. It's alittle darker then I wanted but that's going to have to do. I since I'm wearing this in the summer I may cut of one or both sleaves. What do you think? It's a hard choice since I can't really change my mind after it's done.

I just found this pack in the back of my closet and I plan on modifying it a bit to make it a more accurate backpack but besides that it's already beat up and matches my belt perfectly.

I do need to figure out how my shoulder pads and back pack and holsters will work together and if there is simply too much. There's nothing worse than over doing it and regretting it once you are stuck carrying it all around.

I still have to do the painting which could ruin the work I've already done if I'm not careful. But once I get up the courage I'll do it and post pictures.

Wow, the SMG looks really good man, you can tell some time and skill has gone into it. Just don't get arrested for wielding it.

The Pip-Boy has real potential to look awesome too, coming along real nicely. I wish i had the time to do something like this for a costume party xD

Hahaha. Thanks guys. I don't think there is another game I enjoy more than Fallout so it's worth it. And in the future I may make short films using my costume will come in handy. Also, I don't know if you've checked out my blog but I love making costumes since Halloween is a big deal for my family so I enjoy the spent time. I'll be working more on my costume later today when I'm off work so I'll post more then.
