Fallout Revelation Blue or Fallout Revelation Blues as it's called now is a total conversion mod for Fallout: New Vegas that attempts to recreate the abandoned Van Buren project. There's a demo out on Nexus that you can try and that feature the Burham Springs location.

Check out the first post of this thread if you don't believe me when I say that the mod was originally called Revelation Blue and not Revelation Blues. Why did they change the name? That's the real topic of this story to me. To be continued...

I feel like they always intended for it to be called Revelation Blues but they only recently realized that Revelation Blue doesn’t mean the same thing.

I hope this isn't another case of "Here's a demo, btw we're cancelling the project". Looks nicely put together, I just wish they made the story of Van Buren fit into New Vegas' canon and not just throw New Vegas aside.

That’s easier said than done. The two timelines are not truly compatible and share many characters that are almost the same but not quite. Van Buren’s Legion is more technologically advanced than the one in New Vegas. Speaking of that place, it’s not even mentioned in Van Buren, raising questions about its existence or importance. I think it was only mentioned once in Fallout 1, simply referred to as 'Vegas.' Additionally, some major events that occurred in Van Buren never happened in the official timeline, particularly regarding San Francisco and Shady Sands.

We tried to consolidate the timelines for Fallout Yesterday back in 2014 but failed. There were lots of issues but you’re welcome to try of course.

To quote Tagaziel, an ex-admin of Fallout wiki:

“Trying to reconcile Van Buren and New Vegas, which are mutually exclusive, is an exercise in futility. The sooner you realize that, the better.”

Which is why if a Van Buren project ever finalizes and is good enough I'm replacing New Vegas with it.

I stand corrected. Tycho specifically calls the place "Las Vegas" which drives the wedge between the timelines even further.

{118}{}{Not my place. I'd rather not cross Killian, after all. He'll clean up this town when he gets around to it. A good man, mark my words. But watch out for that fellow Gizmo. Reminds me of another fat freak my father told me about back in Las Vegas.}

Didn't Atomic Postman merge them in his Van Buren project?

I must say that I don't know about that. It's hard to find time to browse forums and check out what others are doing

Yep, I know it's a reference to Wasteland 1 but it's still part of the game's canon.
From what I recall, special encounters are the only things that weren't considered canonical according to BIS.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. What I find most puzzling is how he managed to resolve the biggest issue of them all. The fact that the events of Van Buren lead into a new nuclear apocalypse. The world of New Vegas shouldn't actually exist after the events of Van Buren take place. For example, NCR troops were planned to have been morphed into raiders or "ronins" according to MCA.

Yeah I was about to say that.

Well there's truthfully a lot of things he had to change around or remove as they were either incompatible with New Vegas or were recycled from Van Buren for New Vegas, so his VB isn't 100% accurate, but for what it is I think he did an incredible job.

Where was this mentioned? And in what context?
here you go

Thanks for the links.
Personally I was never a fan of MCA's wish of nuking the NCR and resetting the wasteland once more because he felt the Core region was getting too civilized.

To me it was always an indication that the future games after Van Buren should be set further East were civilization has not been recovering yet or just is only starting.
That way you could in general avoid the politics of the NCR and introduce some interesting new factions and groups who have their own agendas, only occasionally hinting at the 'civilized' West, but in such a way that people would believe it to be some made up story about there being a new government.

well it's better to destroy the ncr by the player hands than saying some pre war vault dweller discovered that his wife is lesbian so he nuked the ncr off screen

Huh. Was that a plot in the Fallout streaming series?
I haven't followed it as I knew it would not be faithful to the original Fallout lore. Especially with Todd Howard working on it.
yep it's 100% the plot there are a lot of plot holes and shitty excuses the wife somehow did the math and knew the civilization was back (the ncr was siphoning from the vault's water which is weird because hanlon said that the water sources that he grew up with as a young man are all gone) they don't care about the original fallout and 2 lore they ignore the ncr and master not finding 4 vaults in their lands for decades
it's hilarious how the show isn't consistent for being "funny" anyway

What a bullshit plot device.
It was probably done because the production team didn't want the NCR to be around and shift the setting back to Fallout 1 standards.
And I heard the Enclave is now back and operating in the open.
So basically the setting has been made to be like Fallout 3.
