Final Fantasy 13

I'm a sucker for the Final Fantasy games. There, I admitted it. I bought a PS2 for the sole reason of being able to play Final Fantasy X, even though I hated(and still do hate) Sony. I was almost considering getting a PS3 because of Final Fantasy 13, but I found something out today: FF13 is going to be on the 360.

Basically, I just wanted to spread the word, although I guess I was a little behind on the times. I'm buying a 360 for sure now over the Wii and PS3.

For a while I kept expecting it to be released for the PS3, around the time Resistance: Fall of Man was released. Now they've apparently switched to the 360. Who knows? By the time they finally finish it and decide which system to release it for, it might be on the Wii.

Or they could take another step down and release it for the PS2.

I've heard the same of Resident Evil 5.

It's sad, because I've got a PS3 and 360, and don't much care for the 360 at all. The PS3 is much nicer IMO.

I have a PS3, and I love it. Great system. Sony hasn't put out a bad piece of video game hardware yet (I also love my PSP).

I'll be snagging FFXIII for PS3 the day it ships. I've been a fan of FF since the first one dropped on the NES all those years ago.

Uh-oh. A thread on a Final Fantasy game here? That's just asking for trouble.

That said, I'm unashamed to admit my love for the FF franchise. Although I'm not terribly impressed with XII so far to be honest. Never played (and was never too interested) in IX, also. But I like the look of XIII so far. Of course, haven't seen anything of the actual gameplay.

One major problem with all future FF releases: no Nobuo Uematsu. His compositions contributed a great deal to the atmosphere (and greatness) of the Final Fantasy series since the very beginning. Can't blame him for moving on to to other things, but it's a great loss.

i never catched the ff virus. does it have to do with console gaming? never did that. whats so fascinating about it? i youtubed some ff videos, but the only thing that stuck was the annoying "beep" when you do something in the menus. oh, and the mario graphics. thats what i call those console-ish colouring.

i *think* i watched 2 final fantasy movies, one was pretty decent and funny (basically, cloud kills everything in sight), the other one was with some strange ghostlike creatures. i get the idea that sephiroth is the evil guy, but totally didnt get the ghost thing.

I hope you know that FF XIII will be part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation.
What we know it consists of:

The current games in development within Fabula Nova Crystallis are:

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360, PC has been metioned somewhere too but it's not comfirmed yet)
Final Fantasy Agito XIII (PSP)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3 exclusive)

I guess I'm somewhat of a FF fanboy too...

Can someone tell me when Aeris is coming back? I've been waiting for her for almost eleven years...

Unfortunately FF died for me when 7 rolled out, the story was lackluster and was nowhere near anything done before, as all final fantasies before that were steampunk at the absolute highest tech level.

I don't know if I'm the only one that gets ired by the fact that the game got it's own movie as well (despite the fact that I have a wall scroll that was gifted to me from that movie.)

Anyways, FF7 was landmark because it broke into a lot of different markets, as it was when Square found the emo-boy formula for making successful JRPGS, after that they just re-manufactured the whiny pea brained freak from here to kingdom come.

Power to you all whom enjoy the series in it's current incarnation, but I'll always herald 3/6 as being the best FF to date, and I have played each and every one out so far, I even own FF12 because I was tricked with the first 1/2 hour of the game into thinking it had balls again.

Yeah, FF12 is fun up until you get more than one person in your group. The trick is to play and build up as much as possible when you have just him in your party (I forget his name). There's the tougher desert area you can go to and it's very fun and challenging without the AI doing EVERYTHING for you.

There's even a cave with even tougher creatures in it, the blob thingies, etc.. But those might be too hard to do alone.. Anyway, one reason why you should play so long in the early parts of the game (before you're introduced to the other characters) is because when you do start getting those other characters, they're all the same level as your first character, +1. Easiest way to build up everyone before moving on. I did this and it made the first 3/4 of the game really easy to go through, which is a blessing, considering the lackluster characters and storyline...

And I agree about the earlier FF's being the best. FF4 (aka Final Fantasy 2 for the SNES) will always be my favorite.
