Fixing the Master's plan...

Sorrow

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
So, the Master has a great plan of changing humanity.
Then a VD guy comes and tells him that mutants are sterile and the Master kills himself.
Could he have done something different?
IMO the solution is hidden in the name of his human followers - Children of The Cathedral.
I wonder why he didn't simply start farming his followers? He could have decreed that before they can be changed into mutants they have to have x children.
Also, he seems to need human scientists anyway.

I think the master was in such shock that he did not have any time to think. He spent his life working toward this goal, so when he could see failure, he simply crashed. Maybe if he had calmed down a little bit and though about the situation, he could have formulated a plan. However, he was too unstable.

It would be nice if PC could show an alternative plan to him and take over the CoC which would result in alternative good ending in which the Master would prevail and VD would retain his humanity as his right hand :D .

The unused text files in Fo suggest that as Master's right hand you solve the sterility problem.

I always hoped there was a different option. My first run through, I told the master "Maybe you need more tests?" or something of the sort, and he just dips you, kinda depressing. Also, Grizzly, where would those text files be found?

In the game, once you unpack the files, I s'pose. Surely there is a Fallout DAT explorer similar to the one for FO2?

Also, I think if you tell the Master he needs more tests, he attacks, not invades your Vault.

Yeah you're right, just checked now. Hehe, always got a save just before the masters conversation.

Extract the entire text folder from Fo1, they should be in the "cuts" folder.
My Fallout folder seems to be a little...off. The game runs fine, but in the Text folder there are some strange happenings.
I am in Data/Text/English and there are two choices, Dialogue, or Game. Choosing Dialogue, I get one file, RAZOR.msg. Opened it w/ Word and got, not surprisingly, Razors dialogue. Going back and choosing the Game folder, I get three .msg files, COMBAT.MSG, LSGAME.msg, and MAP.msg. None of these contain dialogue info. Should I reinstall to get the originals?

You need to extract the files with - as example - mini dat man from the master.dat file.

Yes, that would be a good plan. Makes his followers have at least, say, six children per couple before the dip.

But I think his instability killed him. How can you continue a new race and make humans a thing of the past if your new race can't reproduce?

I think it's fault of the Vault Dweller - she told him that to convince him that his plan is bad, not to help him to fix it :P .

I think the situation for him was rather hopeless to begin with. If the storyline is followed, the vats in the Military Base are already destroyed, meaning his "mutant converting" had since taken a huge blow in the face. When he heard about not being able to reproduce his mutant race without his great opponent, the human race, he probably realized that his dream was shattered.
The Vault Dweller had already taken out his main base of operations (the Cathedral) showing him of the great threat humans actually were. Combined with his reliance on them, it would have been a fatal flaw to his master scheme.

To make it even more unlikely, if we look at the past in the real life it shows us of the extreme difficulty to enslave humans because of their adaptability to extreme situations and their ingenuity when faced with difficult situations. It shows us how there will always be some people forming an underground resistance, in which the Vaults and the BoS already had a great advantage due to their stealth and military prowess.
