Frank Horrigan is a pushover?

Residential Zealous Evolved Nano Organism
The whole game he was this 'big scary badass', who was hyped up to be the final badass boss...

And I stomped his teeth in within 2 turns.

By that point, any realistic character should have at least 100 science, and the turrets in the room basically win the battle for you.

Was he designed to basically troll people stupid enough to not click on everything on every map? XD

He IS the strongest opponent of all Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.
Yet, he is the ONLY opponent that you are actually required to fight in both those games.

Which means that, contrary to any other opponent, it is mandatory to have him beatable by any kind of character, including characters that never fired a single shot in the whole campaign.

So, if you are a fighter, you can rush through the boss fight and expect a good challenge. If you have zero fighting skills, you also have the ability to put him down without doing the job yourself. (using the turrets, Granite crew and your own companions)

I think it would have been neat if there was a special encounter where you got to fight him. (Not the one where he slaughters people) I think that would have added much more of the dread that was in the boss battle. Because then you would have known this guy ain't dicking around.

Imagine encountering Frank and barely escaping only to find out he's the boss, and not some crazed super power armored mutant roaming the waste.

That would have blown my young mind.

What difficulty did you have it on?

Did you have companions?

Did you have Granite's team?

It took me a dozen attempts to beat Frank the first time I tried. Then again, I was on default difficulty, with no companions, and no Granite team.

Normal difficulty (What does difficulty do? If its just a damage buff against you, that's bad balancing! ;( )

I had the team, and the turrets, no companions.

If you want to crank up the difficulty, you can also ignore the turret. They will fire at you, not at him.

Lots of people say its notoriously easy if you have both the team and the turrets, as they can between them kill him for you.

Yeah...

I guess he's not THAT strong.

I think I could solo him, if I got an eye cripple and crippled a leg.

As said before, turret and granite team are there if your character is a total non fighter.
It is a way to AVOID the fight. If you want to know how strong he is on his own, face him alone.

Is it even possible with a fighty character to beat him without either?

I mean...My guy is pretty min-maxxed, nearly 10 Special in everything, and I feel like the turrets would kill me in 3 turns...

Then remove the turrets if you think they prevent you to evaluate horrigan strength.

I can do that. ^_^

Then again, against Granite team, and Horrgan alone...I'd have to use quite a few stimpacks.

Thank god 10 luck+Sniper=100% crit chance...

Except somehow I managed to score a non-crit... -__-
