Gametrailers.com videos

Watching the first now. The supermutants don't show the slightest reaction to being hit by sustained minigun fire. It looks... bad.

So hoping the game works well in areas other than combat (visuals).

EDIT: Watching the BOS one now. Is it just me or do people move too quickly when compared to the way they're running? Looks as if the BOS guys are rollerblading across the ground.

Still, environments looks nice, as always.

Wow.
The Brotherhood of Steel video shows the Fatman in use, and how ridiculous it really feels in-game.

And really, combat feels...crowded, FPS-like. Not Fallout, in any case.

I HATE COMBAT MUSIC.

Hated it in Oblivion, hate it here. Hopefully it will be possible to actually switch it off without messing up the music completely, this time around (but somehow I doubt it).

Finished watching them. The way the enemies simply don't show any physical reaction to weapons fire is irritating to say the least. That sort of thing shouldn't be in games in 2008 :/

Anyway, my overall impression is one of not being particularly moved either way. Certainly not a 'OMG that game looks good', but nor 'that looks shit.' (although it does strike me as amateurish in places) Shame, though, considering how I rank the original games :/

I agree with the previous gentlemen.

That BoS combat was just way too...something... it reminded me of a multiplayer game with no coordination of action.

The music didn't remind me at all of fallout, it reminded me of... Oh, yea, Oblivion.

Just a damn shame.

Pretty raw combat footage.

The fat man 1 shots the hardest thing to kill in game? I'll do my best to not cheat, errr, use this weapon.

:freak: Are they serious with the BOS Paladin armors and animations ? It feels as if they were wearing damn cardboard armors...

It's sad how reliant Bethesda is on other people mopping up after them.

In Oblivion you had to download a fan's mod to add proper ragdoll physics to Oblivion since Beth didn't bother with a good one, and it worked quite well.

Bethesda should really just start hiring from the modding communities because they seem to show far greater ability than Bethesda in house to finish the damn games for them.

The physics of the NPCs is pathetically lacking, looks like a fan mod will again most likely be needed.

They are just wearing cardboard armor and they are just playing "Post apocalypse" just like some kids play house or doctor.

Rollerblades yes, but more accurately ball bearings because they can "skate" sideways.

Ok we get combat game play on the most part now. Can we get some dialog game play? Maybe show us an entire quest from start to finish? Like the letter delivery that turns into dealing with the family.

This is just a repeat of the earlier footage, but without it being cut into pieces and without the comments. Edited this into the newspost.

If anyone feels like extracting screenshots for NMA from the HD version, I wouldn't mind.

Weird, notice the chaingun in the trench warfare one. The bullet casing disapears in mid air during the VATs shot which looks strange.

I don't remember seeing the green goop gun before. Or maybe I did and just didn't see the "critical turns target into goo" things?

One thing in particular I don't like is the "seemingly important NPC's facing off vs behemoth". Bethesda did crap like this with both Morrowind and Oblivion. I don't like it and it's very bad for quests...

I guess I just don't like any quest that anything to do with weakling NPC's that get killed easy. It wouldn't be so bad if they would run, but thanks to stupid Radiant AI they will most likely kamikaze against the first enemy they see.

My opinion of this footage:

I was actually very impressed. Sure, the animations were, as always, a little off, but is that really such a big issue? The music seemed fine to me-I don't see what's so wrong with it. The environments were spectacular, and that should be expected from Bethesda. Finally, no one here seems to be mentioning the fact that the FPS action was very well done. You guys just seem to be focusing on the fact that the animations were off when enemies were struck by bullets, and yes, that is a fair criticism. Yet, which matters more? The action or the animations? I'll take action any day.

Positives, then: the supermutants looked good - not like the orcs I feared. The parts that don't stand out are like that because they feel natural and Falloutish. The environments... the ghouls looked good...
The trench warfare looked OK - the explosions etc (but the fatman - ugh. Considering it's the most hyped weapon out there, you'd have thought they'd have made the explosion look better).

The animations are pretty poor, though. Rollerskating NPCs.

they have been hireing from the modding comunity, the problem is not everyone who does a mod for them thats any good wants to work for Bethesda or already has jobs elsewhere or just do not want to move to the Washington DC area.

Well done?
It looked chaotic and poorly done to me, really. Enemies didn't react, so it doesn't look like you're having any effect until they suddenly fall over.
And it seemed like VATS took all of the point of FPS combat out of the game. The reason to have FPS combat is to provide quick action, use of reflexes, a challenge. VATS removed that, obviously. Which leaves the question: why the hell is there FPS combat anyway?

See the Brotherhood of Steel video. That didn't feel like a good, co-ordinated military attack. It felt like a bunch of kids running around shooting lasers at people. Until you break out the Fatman and kill the baddy.

looks absolutely bad , they should've putted isometric and fully turnbased action , would give us 10x better fell of the game , this looks silly...
sander is absolutely right about the vats point , but still , i just cannot believe this is a fallout game , cannot get that good old felling when playin fallout , which i did get every time i played it
