Get your own .223 pistol

you can get good replicas for about 600 USD. but that's way over the edge as far as i'm concerned. i'd still pay 300 though (for one done to my tastes).

not really. more spending it on bullshit and expecting it to be a good investment.

no one said this would be a good investment. ;)

More like getting a loan for $100,000 in order to buy it even though you have no collateral, and suddenly finding out it's only worth $50,000, then deciding it's better to lose the $50,000 gun than repay the $100,000 loan. Only the gun is a house.

Yes...hehe

What a price for a movie prop, some ancient papyrus or book or a painting by a great artist is sold for less...

i consider Blade Runner a greater work of art than most paintings.

why shouldn't a skillfully assembled movie prob be worth more than some paint on a rag?

you as a fallout fan should realise at least some of the influence that the movie has had on the world...

(edit: typo)

The gun doesn't make the movie for most people, Sue.

Also, the film's sets and most props were designed by Syd Mead.

it doesn't for me either? it is however the enbodiment of the movie for many people... like the Picasso's Guernica is the enbodiment of the spanish civil war for many people.

(note that i'm not comparing a movie with a civil war, but an unique mastercrafted prop with a painting)

Well, you're, of course, entitled to your opinion... :ugly:

I looove Blade Runner, but besides some inspiration here and there for a few people, the influence that movie has had on the very real human society ("the world") is zero.

They're not selling the movie for that price, just a small keepsake from it...

Yes, you're not comparing a movie with a civil war, but Picasso's Guernica with an overpriced simplistic irrelevant void of artistic content movie prop...and given your previous comment about some "point on a rag", your use of Picasso's Guernica for example is even more terrifying...

Uhm. While I might tend to agree with your statement that the prop might be somewhat overpriced, let's not forget Blade Runner pretty much defined Cyberpunk/Tech Noir as a visual genre.

OK, that it did, but that is an aesthetical visual pleasure for a few people such as ourselves, the phrase "influence on the world" as i see it and in the context SuAside put forth seem to me to be an overstatement.

Aesthetical visual pleasures have sometimes the added bonus of provoking emotions and reflection upon their viewers.

For some, it's paintings, for others it's movies, for yet anothers, completely different things, such as a well-crafted movie prop.

Make no mistake, such seemingly small things move 'big things' in the 'real world'.
