Great Eurogamer Article on New Vegas vs Fallout 3

It's not often that Eurogamer puts out an article I can praise, but holy shit, this guy gets it. Specifically, he gets me. That's how I felt about the two games and why I reason NV being my favorite. (Also of the series, with FO2 tagging just behind.) Except, I have to admit, I cratered the Legion in Lonesome Road. Don't know what that says about me, lol.

Meh, another article that feels lacking. I have always wanted balanced coverage and even though I also believe NV was superior, it had plenty wrong with it. The legions development was wholly in-adequate, as many here have posited. I think this guy should have mentioned that lack instead of praising the legion because it brought fnv closer to just another trive good vs evil game.

Again, a bit more details in regards to what he found lacking in f3 that he did find in fnv would have been nice.

Yeah. Also had the strong feeling that the only time you can praise New Vegas is when you underline more than once how much you also loved Fallout 3.

Yeah, mostly agreed with it, but he basically goes 'this is better than 3 in EVERY SINGLE WAY ESPECIALLY STORY' and then goes 'oh but I loved 3' and I fear that was more to appease the hordes than admit his actual thoughts on it.

But isn't saying that you loved Fo3 hurting your credibility as game journalist ?

It's okay to enjoy a game that you know is kind of shit. It's what makes opinions so fun and wacky. Like torture. Like, for instance, I know Final Fantasy VIII is a wildly, horrifically fucked up game. Yet, for some reason, I still boot it up. And beat it. Whilst groaning at Selphie and banging my head against the wall during the game's 3rd act.
