Guns'n Bullets

Makenshi

Ahoy, ye salty dogs!
I've been messing with items, using cubik's program (thanks for showing to me, .Pixote.)

How do I change the skill affected by magazines? guns'n bullets is a bit underused because small guns is so much important and fun to leave without a tag (imo), so I'd like to change the mag in either two ways:

1) apply to big guns or energy weapons (i'd change the mag name)

or

2) apply to all 03 gun skills (it'd improve small AND bigs AND energy), but feels cheesy, cheeky and imba

PS: YAY! I'm a Vault Dweller now! :P

Great idea! I use Guns & Bullets all the time, as many as I can get! This book should work with big guns since they work on the same principles as small guns. They are just heavier and do more damage. You should leave the name of the mag as it is. It's just too much of a classic within the game to change it. This modification would certainly help later in the game.

Energy weapons work on completely different principles and should not be included in the G&B skill increase. They should have their own publication to improve skill level. I don't know how difficult it is to implement a completely new inventory item in the game. There is a "book" in Fallout 2 that you can get to increase Energy Weapon skill by 10%; http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Cat's_Paw_Issue_No.5 . But, this is a special quest item that you can only get near the end of the game. I usually get the Tag! perk as soon as I can and tag the Energy Weapons skill.

How about this? Energy Weapons are electronic/technical devices. Modify the Big Book of Science to increase the Energy Weapon skill!

I may be wrong, but I think all skillbooks are hardcoded into the game. I suppose you could make your idea work with a sfall global script, but I suck terribly at scripting global scripts, so I can't help you. Sorry.

Another idea would be to write a script similar to Cat's Paw magazine's no.5. and assign it to all instances of guns and bullets in the game, but that's undesirable, because of the "too many items" bug.

That Cat's Paw is the kind of unique item I rather hoard then use...

Anyway, how do I turn the changes I did into a mod? Just upload my Data folder somewhere? It wold be nice if I could make some sort of installer, if it's not too much trouble.
