How excited are you for Fallout 4?

I'm just curious because this forum seems mostly fans of the first two games (myself included). But even though I really didn't like fallout 3, I have to admit I'm really excited for Fallout 4 for some reason, even if its not made by Obsidian, guess I just want to see another incarnation of my favorite ip even if it sucks.

Will you even play it?
Will you play it, but stop if it sucks?
Will you play it all the way through and then feel dirty afterwards?

Excited over what exactly? there are no news, or information about it having even started it's development process.

I'm excited to see what they come up with. It might be awful. It might be good. New Vegas was good. I hope it's like New Vegas.

Why would I care for Fallout if Wasteland 2 is due in 10 months - with actual footage, promising names and brilliant ideas? Bethesda ruined the franchise, the very same way Caen did. I have no interest in playing a game with no choice and consequence and nothing else to offer in exchange.

I doubt that Fallout 4 will be much different from its predecessor. And since I quite enjoyed playing F3, I'm looking forward to F4, though I don't expect much from it. Like Skyrim, it will be a good game to pass time with. Of course, most of the hardcore fans are looking forward to Wasteland 2 and more excited about it.

I expect the engine to be crappy again, so I don't really care. Skyrim looked really beautiful, but the way the NPCs moved and the game physics were just ridiculous. Story wise it's not canon to me anyway, so whatever...

The proper vision of anything resembling a "desolate wasteland" will never be realized with Bethesda at the helm. They make gigantic open world sandbox games, filled with bugs, where you can run from one side of the map to the other in less than an hour. Inside that map, you find 300 villages or camps and 5 towns. Fallout 1 & 2 had less than that, spread over 5 states.

Bring back the world travel map bethesda! Bring back random wasteland encounters! Make a little mini-game a-la Oregon Trail where you have to bring supplies to make distant journeys, lest ye must resort to rely on Outdoorsman skill.

Smaller, more detailed zones, only connected by world map travel. And a Highwayman.

Never gona happen, I know. So I'm not excited. At all.

You, sir, just hit the proverbial GOLD MINE!!! Not only would that be sick (if the next game basically had that "fast travel Oregon Trail" minigame idea), THAT would probably guarantee more success for the game than ANYTHING ELSE Bethesda could advertize for it.
"Oh yeah, it's in a new location." Meh.
"Well, we've added three times the weapons!" Eh...
"We've designed the game around an ENTIRELY new engine!!!" Bleh...
".....We've added an Oregon Trail minigame?" TAKE MY MONEY NAU!!!

Shit, they could even JUST give us Oregon Trail, and call it FO4, and it would probably satisfy more fans than "a newer, better FO3", I'm willing to bet...

But I digress... Yeah, why is this even a question about what we "expect" of FO4? It's a rorschach test of "did you like FO3?" and nothing more. It's the same as asking people if they were looking forward to Black Ops II; the series (and its fanbase) became divided between titles produced by one company and titles produced by another, and if you were a fan of the former's works, you were looking forward to their next title, 'nuff said.

I'm dying for a new one. I could be cynical about development teams and lack of news.... but I'm an addict. I have a passing interest in other games, but the Fallout world contains the first games I've revisited multiple times, and they never fail to capture me.

I'm excited like a dumb kid, basically.

Nothing good came out of Bethesda since Terminator: Future Shock (except possibly Daggerfall).
Yup, that was a good old Bethesda with a little Todd employed as a pizza-boy. As I see it, Todd has become a bethesdian version of Hervé Caen.

edit: Thanks to FO3 release I've lost any interest in future Fallouts.

My excitement depends entirely on who makes it. If it was Obsidian, yes, I'd be excited. Since it's supposed to be Bethesda, nope, not in the least.

If it is made by Bethesda and uses the Gamebryo engine, not really. I liked Fo3 and I liked New Vegas even more, but I'm tired of that engine. It's not stable and it's old. I feel like Bethesda might be cheap and just upgrade Gamebryo for Fallout 4. New Vegas was developed mainly by Obsidian, so that's why it was so much better. They made great use of Bethesda's glitchy, dated engine and made a great game of it. If Fallout 4 is made, I would personally like to see it be 3rd Person only, but if they do it right, First Person/ 3rd Person could work out greatly with FO4.

Unless they surprise people and hire on Obsidian or another studio to have more input as far as the structure of the game is concerned, the chances are slim to none that I'll be excited for Fallout 4.

The Creation engine looks nice, but it still has many of the same flaws that Gamebryo/Havoc did built into it. It's rather silly, actually, that they couldn't do more about that.

It will probably be as shiny as Skyrim and will have the same immature, stupid, pointless quests and dialogs, plastic NPCs as FO3. In other words - graphics update for FO3. With possible inclusion of vehicles. Main storyline will be based on a boy (or a girl), looking for his/her mom. We'll see tons of fan-made nude and "prettier" mods, new hair styles and stuff on Nexus.

No way. Skyrim doesn't have it => FO4 won't. Look at Skyrim, replace swords with guns, horses with cars, replace nordic pathos with teenage vampire stories and zombie^W feral ghoul shooting - and you have a clear idea what FO4 is going to be.

Im just sick of open world games. I need more focus. And that god aweful micro-stutter, loading in enemies/buildings/garbage as I travel, is so annoying. Until every gaming console/PC has super huge/reliable SSDs (solid state drive) this will always be a problem.

But you're right, FO4 will be Skyrim with guns and prostitutes.

Fallout 4 isn't even an idea yet (unless I am missing something). The guys at Bethesda and Obsidian are busy right now working on other projects, and Bethesda said that they won't even have the time to produce anything else until 2014.
