Oh damn, 8 hours? How does it differ from, say, 4 hours?

As for me, i prefer the fast method:

Clay pots (a bit bigger than a big cup);
Chicken breast (cut into cubes);
A mix of vegetables cut in pieces, similar in size to the chicken ones (bell pepper, egg-plant, tomato, beans (first have to soak them in water for a few hours), potatoes);
A soup spoon of olive oil;
A mixture of black, green, white and pink pepper (or only black pepper if you don't have others, but they often sell all of them in one package);
A bit of salt;

I go with 2 to 1 ratio of vegetables and meat (in that order and it should fill the whole pot). Put all of that shit into the pots, add a really healthy ammount of peppers (so that it transforms you into a dragon), a pinch of salt, a soup spoon of olive oil, and fill the pots with water up to about 70-80% percent of the pot capacity. Put the lids on, then put all of the pots in the oven and cook for 20-30 minutes (maybe a bit longer, depens on how hot the oven is, the potatoes will take the longest, as small pieces of chicken tend to cook really fast. You don't want to cook for too long, as the moisture will escape the pot and you will be left with dry crap).

You can also put a soup spoon of sour creem when it's done (i have no idea if it's any good in other countries).

4 hours on medium or so will cook it fine but 8 hours on low will make the meat and hard veg much more tender.

Hotpot's 6 hours in for me, fuck I'm hungry! Been about 15 hours.

I'd prefer to use a large crock pot for this but I had to make do... those little clay pots sound good, about a meal in each one?

Generally speaking I pre-cook everything, either fried together in a pan until brown (onions and meat), or softened in the microwave for a couple minutes in the case of veggies. Then put in the slow cooker on high for a couple of hours to let everything mix and bring the flavours out. Much faster but still tastes fookin' amazing. Best meals ever in the winter.
