How to play Fallout 2 + Restoration Project on a Mac

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this but since I couldn't find much information on getting the Fallout 2 Gog version + The Restoration Project to work on my Mac I thought I'd make a post. You will need Crossover 13.1 or Crossover Games, Fallout 2 GOG Version and the latest version of the Restoration Project.

Create a Windows 2000 Bottle first
Install Fallout 2 into this bottle
Install the Restoration Project into this bottle

When you run the game you will get an error saying it could not load the cities. I'm not sure what the reason behind this is but after some searching I found a simple fix.

Download the "City Limit Patch 2" from here:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=76

Drag it into your Fallout folder and run.
Click "Do it!" at the bottom to patch the Fallout2.exe. Don't bother about the Mapper.exe below it.

Thats it! Run Fallout 2 from the Programs bar up the top and toy around with the screen resolutions until you find one that fits your monitor.

Hope that helps anyone who grabbed the recent free GOG download but couldn't get it working on their Mac.

The sfall included in RP already has the city limit patch function. So if you got the error, it means sfall doesn't get properly loaded, and it's a MUST for RP.
Using the old city limit patch will only get you to the main menu and some old areas, but you won't be able to access EPA or any other sfall function related content (the game will mostly crash). I've seen way too many people on other forums using such method to get their RP "working" (because sfall got blocked by certain Chinese security software or didn't find its config INI file due to UAC setting), but all of them will crash at some points or not work properly.

It's better to follow the installation guide on the wiki: http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/F2RP_Technical_Info

Damn. Cheers for the heads up. I just started a new game so I will try the installation guide you linked. Thanks!

That wiki isn't very clear, and it assumes a lot of knowledge about technical details.

Do you know of a better guide for beginners?
