Inevitable; Fallout 3 release date rumours

After a tip from Cooper, we followed a short trail of sendaround that all indicated they got it from another source; Cooper from his distributor, his distributor from EB Games, and EB Games claims: "We were unable to find Fallout 3 on our website, so we don't offer that particular game at this time. We get all release dates from the manufacturer, EB Games/Gamestop does not dictate the release dates."

We'll put it down as an administrative error, but just for completion purposes; EB Games lists their Fallout release date as Nov 27th 2007 (apparently, they didn't confirm it either), which they claim to get from the manufacturer.

i call bullshit.

if i am wrong, there is no way in hell it would be a worthwhile purchase if it came out on that date.

See that was not so bad we got a rumour on the frontpage and it is good news :)
Can I kill it, please?

Also, again, not exactly a rumour. This time the source is EB Games, a reputable company who propogate a release date themselves.

TheWesDude; it's been in production for quite some time now, I believe crunch-time began late 2006. Bethesda are generally patient workers, but late '07/early '08 isn't unrealistic.

nah next months OXM mag may shed some light (it is fucking sad day if the first info goes to an xbox mag)

Shed some light? More like "gargle up and spit BethesdaPR cum", Paris Hilton style.

Word.

Fallout 3 is basically an Oblivion full-conversion with a budget. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason all of Beth's "official mods" for Oblivion are shit is because all of their actual man-hours have been tied up in its "expansion" loller-scrolls, and Fallout 3.

A year's pre-production and an actual development time of 2 years sounds realistic to me considering they're essentially using everything from the Oblivion engine.

I am so excited but I am also scared I just hope that they don't ruin fallout in the process. it is scary because the game is going to xbox that means the game won't have any point and click, this will suck balls as I loved in fallout you could get description on any objects and most of them were funny.

They will. The best possible result is a decent post-apoc setting, maybe a good story, but it doesn't look like it'll resemble anything Fallout. They probably could've just as well not bought the license.

Come on, let's not get so sceptical...
We are here on 50/50. Either the game will be for the populous of the brain-washed droolers and shit for Fallout community, or it would be done to balance the need of today's gaming world and the Fallout community.
We, as Fallout fans, don't want either of them, but it is pointing out, that we will not have a point and click Turn Based Post Apocalyptic Role playing game.
I am sure, that many Fallout fans don't care for the structure of the game, but they care for its depth, story, humor and stuff. The FALLOUT is not oblivion. Never was, never will be. It is not alike any other Elder Scrolls game. And Bethesda can't be that stupid to make those games similar... They will make a game...
Serifan wrote for example, that the old games had this function, where you could examine objects by clicking on them. Why can't Bethesda make something like this just by inserting the examination function to the crosshair or smth...
I don't know... perhaps i'm a little depressed that my hopes to see the old good Fallout days are over, on the other hand, i hope that Bethesda isn't that dumb...
...unless the British documentaries about modern americans are true...

P.S. Wanna know how will Fallout look like? Watch this:

They will make a game...

...that has nothing to do with Fallout. We already know from the Desslock rumour that the game will be set in the East Coast. If the Midwest was considered an untraversible wasteland to survivalists, what makes you think that the new Fallout will be connected in any way to the canon? In addition to that, what makes you think they have any reason to emulate the gameplay functions of the originals?

Van Brunen, was also meant to be not in the western part... It absolutely had no connection with other two fallouts.
I believe that they do have reasons to emulate the gameplay functions of the originals because that was what showed the game's atmosphere. Look at the poster. Still we have something that we may believe will stay in Fallout. It is 50's cold war fear and sarcasm in it. Even if Bethesda will make an The Elder Scrolls 5: Fallout 3, i will play it, because of the style.
However, we have no particular reason to speculate what will Bethesda do and what will they achieve.
The worst thing is... the only thing we can do is wait. And waiting is a very exausting thing...

Brunen? What?

AFAIK, Van Buren was set in the Midwest. Colorado, Utah, and so on. There even was a mormon faction.

Wasn't there something about Caesar's Legions setting up the possibility of a Fallout 4 set further to the east?

I thought that was further to the southeast, like western Texas and northern Mexico.

Also, Wooz, I don't think anybody really considers Nevada and Colorodo midwest states. They're more West Coast and Mountain. When I think of the midwest, it's usually synonymous with the Bible Belt.

It absolutely had no connection with other two fallouts.

Other than peripheral influence from the Brotherhood and NCR. Also, somebody may be able to correct me on this, but I think there was also some interaction with remnants of the Master's Army.

All the poster suggests is that the Vault Boy will make the usual appearance, as he did in Tactics and POS. The poster may also imply that the game will convey cold war paranoia, but not necessarily that the game's art will imitate the retro-future design of the first game. As was pointed out when the poster was released, Tactics also had great production posters, and its art had nothing to do with retro-future.

Be consistent, Brady, if you're going to flail about picking quotes to death, do the same to the poster, which mostly yields positive results in their understanding of the setting (50's family, bunker beneath them, ect.)

if we are lucky maybe they will include the code for Van Buren. I really hope someone leaks the code because if we had that then someone smart enough could make the real FO3
