Looking to write a Fallout story based in the Commonwealth. (Need help)

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Okay, so I am planning on writing a Fallout story that takes place in Boston (The Commonwealth), but I want to write my story as if Bethesda's version of Fallout never happened. The problem with this is, while I do plan on reading The Fallout Bible, I'm still probably going to screw some of the lore up. That's what I need you're help with. If you could, down below, leave a comment about something that I absolutely need to know about Fallout's lore in order to not completely screw up my story or something that you may like to see in my story.

For a little bit of information:
-The story takes place in the late 2100's
-I currently do not plan on having any mention of the BoS, The Enclave, or Super Mutants (unless someone makes a valid point as to why I should)
-The version of Boston I plan on portraying is essentially a ruin of skyscrapers that were either blown apart from the nuclear blast, fallen from years of decay, or still barely standing.
-There will of course be areas outside of Boston that have settlements built, and are trying to thrive

If anything that I stated doesn't sound right, just let me know.

I'll be honest, the Fallout Bible is very sketchy to rely on Lore wise.
Even through I understand it was originally made so fans of the series could get even more in-depth knowledge of the Fallout-Verse, and it's still a good reference.
I wouldn't rely on it completely.

I say this as it was written around 15 years ago before 3,4 and New Vegas became a thing.
I'm sure if you ignored those games as even happening than things may be fine.

Some of the artwork on how Boston should have looked like, make sense. Its conversion into the 3D version was messed up. So, you can pretty much fuel your imagination from that. Just, kinda try to keep the raider population low, as it makes no sense of them being so many with comparison of their food source - the settlements.

But what will you do about the Institute? The very notion of the synths in comparison with what tech there is around, kinda baffles me (You can produce THAT but didn't further develop the computer - how did they create all that in the first place then?)
