Medal of Honor: Airborne is...

Un-fucking-believably short. No, really, it's insulting. I mean, yes, recent WWII shooters have been short, but, my god this shit is short. It's like a crack-baby hobbit with dwarfism.

Other than that, it's pretty cool. The cinematic feel is there, the jumping out of the airplane is cool, the mid-mission weapon upgrades are silly but fun and all the other trappings of modern games are there (graphics, sound, AI, etc).

But, holy shit, this thing is short. There's like six missions, you could finish this in an afternoon.

Six missions?!

I guess they thought people wouldn't care how short it is if the graphics are shiny or something.

Seriously Doom 3 had like 20 stages and Half-life took about 10 hours to finish.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Mid-mission weapons upgrades? You mean like when they force you to drop your M1 and magically have a BAR at the start of the next mission?

I hate when that happens.

No, I mean that if you use a weapon enough and get enough experience with it you, automagically, in the middle of a mission, get front pistol grips (Tommy gun), magnum rounds (Colt .45) or a grenade launcher (M1 Garand) or somesuch on your weapon. There are three upgrades for every weapon.

as far as i know, the army never had any 'gangster' front grips.

wait, what?

wtf a .45 magnum rounds (there is no such thing)? i suppose they mean +P+ or +P ammunition. which is kinda silly to name it magnum since it really has no relation.

the future is bloomy movie long games with current game prices :D

p.s. lets not forget button mashing simon says combination games

Dude, I just call it like I see it. Also, weren't there pistol grips on the Tommyguns in the Pacific theatre?

I tried it, but ended up uninstalling without finishing the first mission. At one point I realized it wasn't anywere near as fun as COD1/2 and the earlier MOHs.

One thing that seemed completely absurd though: the blurring while you run. Did they put this in there to make it look like some kind of WW2 action movie?

Do the upgrades persist and can be taken in the next mission, or do you have to re-earn them all? D:

I've only played the demo on the 360, other than the parachuting it's just standard shooter fodder. I guess it's so short because they think people will do the missions over and over trying each one from different landings.

You can turn of the blurring in the options (I certainly did, it was giving me a headache) and yes, you keep what you <s>kill</s> earn.

Ive never found the medal of honor games to be more than just coffee break fun, aside from Allied Assault (Which I played religiously when I was younger)

The MOH games IMHO arent realistic enough/ dont take themselves serious enough and rely too heavily on the MOH name to sell copies. Again, thats just my opinion.

I'm pretty sure the early model Thompsons with the front grips went everywhere, just in limited numbers because they were more costly to produce. The "mil spec" version is more common because they cut a number of costly, unneccesary production aspects. They also dropped support for the 50 and 100 round drums, which had their ups and downs -not much stands up to the unholy might of 100 rounds of .45 cal, but they were heavy and rattled around a lot when you carried them, making sneaking about difficult, plus you actually had to wind them up to re-load them.

as to .45 "magnum rounds", I have no idea. I'm pretty sure they're no such thing.

I think they mean the hollow point on the right.

just because most magnums use hollow points doesn't mean magnum means hollow point. :)

what a bunch of nuubianz...

The game gets fun though if you insist on doing all the missions with only your pistol and a Springfield. The fully upgraded pistol is a fucking hand cannon.

Oh, and grenades, gotta love the grenades!

The only highlight of the game is the free-fall which I quite like especially when you land on the red zone with tons of enemy soldier swarming over you. And I play the game quake-style with bunny hopping.
