So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
Modder
The latest version of the Megamod is now available. You may get it from Nirran's website (http://www.nirran.com) for now, NMA still links to the 2.43 version.

Some items from the latest readme:
-Klint has been completely rewritten (fixing all bugs and preventing him from being a major exploit/cheat)
-Included later version of Timeslip's Sfall
-Removed scripts from many items, thereby eliminating the dreaded "too many items bug" that results in the missing Skilldex button
-Fixed issue with Dr. Fung not talking to the player character
-Killing characters at Bunker 21 will no longer make you an enemy of Arroyo
-Two quest items (keys for the EPA and a note from Sajag) are no longer reversed
-Chance of Lumpy in Gecko being moved upon game load has been removed
-Bad weather no longer lowers AC and raises perception; it now correctly raises AC and lowers perception
-Experience Master Perk (You can modify values for experience given, number of critters to be killed, requirements, etc. in XPMaster.ini)
-Game no longer freezes after combat between Lara's and Tyler's gangs on the Den Residential map
-Can use the EPA bug spray to kill various insects in the game. (However, the spray must be used from the backpack, not the hands.)
-Targeting Gila lizards no longer gives blank body part locations
-Roaches and fruit flies will now be affected by critical hits
-Fixed potential crashing issues if the Mysterious Stranger is helping the player
-Changed Freelance Slavery a bit (requires the Slaver Perk which you can't get if you are too good, number of characters that can be enslaved has been increased, and must have certain items to be able to take existing slaves from evil caravans)

A couple of other notes:
-Please save your bug reports on the BoS Bunker. I know it is still messed up. I am working on completely rewriting how that area works (mainly the monster assault).
-This update will invalidate any previously saved games (mainly due to Klint being rewritten).
-This update has everything you need. No other files are necessary. I will make smaller patches after this one. Going along with this, don't just add this version on top of any existing versions of the Megamod. Certain files were removed from this version. Adding this version on top of an earlier version, therefore, may still cause you to get certain bugs.

Edit:
Small bug, but it has been fixed in the download already. There was a missing file for the Paint Job mod created by Nirran. If you have downloaded the mod from his site before this edit was posted, you may get it again now. If it is not that big a concern to you, then you may get it in the next patch (whenever that is).

Also, in the other thread there was a problem with party NPCs still being reset in certain cases (the question was only specifically about Sulik). This potential error has also been fixed with the 2.44 release.

Guys, after a fresh install, I have tried to run a processdat2 file. Nothing happens - only an error message [dat replace text was not found] is generated. What's wrong?
Anyway, the command line popped up right after installation and some files were copied or executed, it was too fast to read what's that. :)

Thanks, Nirran.
One more thing: the High-Res patch seems to be not working. SCRN button is missing in the main menu and even if I have tried to modify f2_res.ini file by manually, it does not have any effect. (WinXP+SP2, Fallout 2 v1.0 US humongous, the MM Win-installer, no other patches or mods installed)

Hey guys.

Any idea why the game crashes (The instruction at... could not be read) when entering Broken Hills for the first time?

hi_res is not default,it needs to be downloaded sseoperately, the map ini edge files are included because an older version of hi_res did not include current mm map edge info

Every time? Any other towns?

Hi MIB88.
Yes, every time, nowhere else yet, been to almost every location north of BH and in NCR. With or without the car. I get to see the map for 1 second, then it crashes.

@Vrede:
Alright, I'll do some digging. The fact that you can see the map means that it isn't some corrupted item, and most likely some script (either something with an NPC, the car script, or maybe one of the global gl_ scripts) is causing the problem with that particular map. When I get my desktop back up and running (it's been down for a few days) I'll check it out.

Many thanks. Not a rush, plenty of stuff still to do in the game.
I can assume it's not the car, nor the party members since it still happens whether I enter with or without them, but you know best.
I was guessing that it should be the script for running over that ghoul with the car. How can I disable that particular script?

Hi MIB88, first of all congratulations for the great work, keep it up!
I have a problem when loading a save....F2 crashes to destop!
Same problem of version 2.43 solved using the file obj_dude.int from ver. 2.42 :). Also in this case if I use that file everything works perfectly; however I noticed that the new obj_dude.int is substantially larger than the previous and with the use of version 2.42 I am afraid of losing some new aspect of the game :( ....
Can you help me please? Sorry for the bad English and again my congratulations for the quality of work!!!

@Tiek68:Your English is fine, don't worry.
I don't understand why you are having a problem. You can use an earlier obj_dude script. The changes in the later one prevents the "missing skilldex button error" from occurring (also known as the too many items bug). It also fixes how taking/release slaves works. However, if the earlier 2.42 version is the only one that works, then use it for now, until I get my computer working again and can look into these issues.

@Vrede: It is possible that that ghoul script is the problem. However, the only way to remove it is to modify the Broken Hills map script. I am afraid that if you deleted the one from the Megamod, it may cause the car and vertibird to not work correctly at that area. However, you can try it, which would cause your game to use the default version found inside the master.dat file. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the file off the top of my head. If you open up the scripts.lst file in the data/scripts folder, you can find it. Look for a file described as the map script for Broken Hills (just do a keyword search). Good luck.

Hey MIB88! Thanks for the info.
I did as you told me and I found out the scripts name was "hcLumpy.int". But I found no file by that name in the folder, nor in the mod archive.

EDIT: No file by that name in earlier versions neither so it's not even modified I guess.
Well I kinda exhausted my ideas for now. The only thing that kinda works is entering while keeping attack pressed, but as soon as combat ends it crashes again. This way I was able to enter and leave without having it crash and then pressing 2 at the town map I enter the 2nd map with no problem, but entering the 1st map from there causes the same crash.
Perhaps some good soul can upload a 2.44 savegame with Broken Hills so I can check if it still happens later?
Thank you!

To MIB88: Thanks for the answer. Only a question: if I proceed in the game with version 2.42 of obj_dude.int will then be possible in the future to continue with the latest version or I'll have to start over?

@Tiek68: Don't worry. Switching out only the obj_dude script will not invalidate your games. You will not have to restart your game if you change out that script.

@Vrede: No, I never modified Lumpy. The thing to test is to find and delete the map script for Broken Hills. Like I said, it may cause the car and vertibird to not work correctly, but you should be able to interact with the people there... if that is the problem script.

Apologies, forgot to mention I also tried that with broken1.int, the map script. Also with all the scripts I could find that had Broken Hills in their description (maybe I missed some, not sure here), also with all the gl_ files. Same thing happens. Anything else I could try?
Sorry to bother you so much. Thank you.

EDIT:
Another crash in Raider base map. This time I dont get to see the map at all. Also using the map from Bishops safe causes a crash when closing the inventory afterwards. But it works if used from the item slot.

2nd EDIT:
Both BH and Raiders load fine if I delete the respective maps (BROKEN1.map and RAIDERS1. map from the maps folder.

Again, really sorry for all the nagging.

Thanks again MIB88! Let's begin the epic journey :D
