Gamasutra reports:
Ukraine-based developer GSC Game World has announced that it will be unveiling "several subsequent new products" in its critically acclaimed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise at the upcoming E3 Media & Business Summit.

The THQ-published post-apocalyptic open-ended RPG/first person shooter was a critical hit upon its release earlier this year (as previously reported), after an extremely ambitious and expensive seven year development period.

GSC's Oleg Yavorsky told Gamasutra, that he remained optimistic following the belabored release, saying, "Hopefully, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will contribute to making it easier for Eastern European studios to gain access to Western markets," and adding that the relationship with publisher THQ was "a new and positive experience. It was very supportive of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., even when the release was postponed and things didn’t look good."
Link: GSC announces forthcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles on Gamasutra

so what? STALKER 2? or expansion?

i wish they'd fix their game first :s

Pff they do that and they'll never get around to another game. :P

Anyway what's with people calling it an RPG? Sure it has some RPG elements, but it's still mainly an FPS.
They'll call anything an RPG these days.

Why wont they call GTA:SA a RPG, it has all the stuff that oblivion had.

Probably because games set in this world as we know it cannot be called such. Only games in fantasy/medieval or futuristic/postapocalyptic setting can be RPGs. And sometimes that's the only condition they should meet to qualify.

This kinda sounds like they're preparing to milk the franchise for all its worth, though I suppose we'll have to wait and see what these products will be. I wonder how they would go about creating a sequel if they plan on doing that.

Need more patches and construction kit, and I might reinstall this game.

Oh boy! STALKER is so awesome and now there'll be a sequal. I just know it will be worth the wait...

Needs character customisation.
I mean, c'mon. Marked One?
Yes. I am shallow on occasion.

I'm glad to hear that there's more STALKER content on the way, but given the amount of time it took to develop the first game, I don't think we'll be playing the new STALKER any time soon.

7 years for the first game... :?
