Musing about PC gaming, Zotac and shitty customer service

"Fallout 4 adds to the lore"
To anyone reading this, I'm venting at the moment as well as giving you the option of adhering to my warning and don't make the same mistake i did.

So, I was having PC problems a few months back and got a new graphics card, a GTX 980ti from zotac. I got the card due to multiple reviews of the card giving it very positive recommendations, I decided i would grab it for myself, only to be seething with anger after it caused more issues than fixed. Yeah, I had better frame rate. But at the cost of games randomly crashing and more prone to BSOD. I've tried everything to fix that going from multiple Scans from Malwarebytes and Avast to make sure no virus or malicious software was on the pc and even resetting all my data for a fresh install twice. Then i did several diagnosis test, Underclocked the Core and memory clock. Made sure all cables were properly installed and not loose.

Pretty much doing everything i could and even getting a replacement. I pretty much jumped through hoops and went through a lot of problems because a company is incapable of doing proper overclocks or what ever the issue may be for their product. Leaving me now to get a new card after sending the piece of shit back to Amazon. Another issue was the packaging and shipping, Even though i paid for one day shipping, They couldn't be ask to place some extra protective plastic bubbles that has replaced those small plastic pellets. So another issue we have there is a problem that could also elude to packaging issues that could have also caused damage. But we may never know. This happened twice! For both parts!

Anyways, The cusomter service was pretty piss poor. Not only is it always annoying to talk to people that don't have English as their first language and speak it poorly as well as having thick accents. It reminds me about how outsourced customer service centers really are. Anyways, The main problem here occurred when the lady lied about the refund when she said it would take 1 hour to get the money back. What she mean't was one hour to get the cards and send it to UPS so that it can then go on transit back my place.

You know, It really makes me think. How can anyone say with a serious look on their face about PC gaming being the master race when not only if you buy the best hardware, You also have to contend with shitty devs who can't code their game like DayZ or Ubisoft's Assassins creed unity. Dying light as well, That all go to work against your experience of the product. Then on top of that you can also get un-troubleshooting issues that make you work for hours on days on end trying to get your money back while also worrying if something is pretty much fucked up your pc by installing the new part and stress you out even more. It's not a master race if you have to deal with problems that aren't even your fault and you have to fix it. I don't want to be an unpaid Hardware and Online Technician.

Q And A section

"What is the point of telling us this"

I'm mad as hell at three things, Zotac, Amazon and Sub reddit PC master race and want to prevent anyone from getting into this problem if they either want to upgrade to a new card or think about joining PC gaming.

"Are you getting a new card?"

Yeah, An EVGA 980 TI hybrid and i'll overclock that when it gets here once the amazon gift cards arrive in the mail.

TL;DR PC gaming in a nutshell.

Funny, my GTX 980ti never caused me issues. If your computer is having problems like this may I suggest my PC build? it hasn't let me down yet.

I think it's Zotac, Rather than actual 980 ti problems in of itself spec wise.

Though, I'm 110% sure it's not my other parts as this card does other weird shit too like takes textures from games and makes the color red green and blue in small tiles.

I've had my Zotac GTX 660 running smooth for about 4 years now, lots of hard use gaming and OCing nearly every day. Hasn't missed a beat - although I do make it a habit to pull apart the entire computer and dust everything every month. The original fan died quickly after I upped its maximum speed limit - fair enough. It now wears an Arctic Accelero TTIII and some copper memory heatsinks. Hopefully it lasts a bit longer cause I'm fookin broke :(

That would be my guess, I'm using an EVGA 970, my second EVGA and I haven't had any issues.

Could the problem possibly be that your PSU is not powerful enough for that card?

If most reviews of the card are great there's still the possibility that there's some problem on your end.
I've never called Amazon, I usually use the online forms for replacements/complaints and haven't had a problem with their service yet. The response is usually quick and accomodating.

Contrary to popular belief, it is actually very rare that a PSU can't handle the load of a system these days. The GTX 9xx generation doesn't need that much power. You won't max out even a 500W one unless you run at least two graphics cards and overclock everything like crazy.

Well that makes me nervous since I'm planning on getting a GTX 980 TI next month, even though I've stuck with the Windforce versions of each new video card I get. Well besides my 780 which I removed the stock heatsink/cooler to replace with a Windforce cooler meant for my card. Can't say anything about the Zotac versions of video cards but you sound like you have a handful.
