Need Input on Ian Sketch

Deticui

First time out of the vault
Hey everyone, since i got mostly positive crits on my FO fanart, i decided to test the waters a little bit and possibly do a running strip, but before that ill prolli end up posting sketches of various popular NPCs from the Fallout universe and ask for your input.

currently I'm deciding whether to make Pip the actual Pipboy we know and love, or just make Pip a normal vault dweller (IE in my fanart Pip was a redhead, should he be blonde?) Input would be appreciated, right now im leaning toward blonde, like OG Pipboy

so, heres Ian. I wasnt able to get any shots of his front side, but i hope i did alright with everyone.

lol enough stalling, without further blurbing...

See you paid attention to the gun design.

It's pretty good, I like it, good job and so forth.

Just a few minor quibles, such as some people here will dispute the name "Pipboy." Now, you can take all this as seriously as you like, you can easily disregard it, because you make your own desicisions as an artist. I, personally, have an eye towards the literal, so I call attention to the actual game graphics (which of course are limited towards individual characters).

A few things about the character design. On his right shoulder, the arm without the sleeve, is a shoulder pad. On his left hand, he wears a black glove. His hair is longer in the front than it is in the back, draping to his collarbone. His jacket is also much more open in the front, down to his sternum (though I see how there might be problems recreating that without the broad sholders of the character model). Other than that, the magazine of the SMG seems to come to a point, as well as projecting the same distance downwards as the handle. Now, this is an odd point, because on the character model, it is much longer the handle, while the item art for the inventory screen has it shorter. That's about it on the nitpicking, besides the facial hair, which there is no evidence of.

Why do your characters all smoke (all two of them)?

Once again, it's some very nice work.

They all smoke because smoking is cool. Just look at High schoolers..

Yeah, smoking is cool.

Like the Pics. What's the reason you're making them?

And I think calling your character Pip, is a great idea, just as long as you don't make him the "pipboy/falloutboy" guy, keep him as the vault dweller. Red hair is fine by me as well.

lol to be honest, most of my characters smoke cause ive been lazy with the mouths. eventually there will be characters without cigarettes. thats a BIG eventually, tho ^^

yeah for some reason the right shoulder pad didnt come out as pronounced as i wanted it to. i completely forgot the gloves tho

im glad everyone rec's the SMG tho. it was the first burst weapon i had (regretted) giving to Ian, so i thought it appropriate ^^

thanks for the frontal pic, it still looks like his hair is pulled back behind his ears, but now i know how long it goes.

next ill try cassidy, or harold. dogmeat may take a bit, since i srta want some input on exactly what kind of dog dogmeat is. since, like, every dog looks the same in Fallout.

Ian, according to the description, was rather short and massive, not computer-geek slim :D

i wonder how i could implement that...lol mebbe make ian the size of an oompa loompa hopped up on stereroids?

just kidding guys, sheesh ^^

either way thanx for the info, wooz.

Make Dogmeat next!!! that's my all time favorite NPC from both fallout's!
If I recall correctly, when you examine Dogmeat, it says that it's a "Canine, probably mixed breed" Out from the look of the in-game model, I'd say it's a mix between a wolf(because of the tail isn't curled wich is unusual for dogs with pointy ears) and maybe some sledge-dawg...(siberian husky, alaskan malamute, etc..)

wolf:

siberian husky:

alaskan malmute:

You also got the wolfhound, wich is a mix between a germand schäfer(or how the hell it's spelled) and a european wolf, it was breeded to make a helthier schäfer because the regular schäfer suffer from a lot of inbreed problems(some of'em can't even take a crap themselves) I couldn't find a picture of this one though...

Finally, you got the australian cattle dog(like the one mad amx has) wich is a somewhat small dog but extremely endurant and strong, cos it's use to wrestle with cattle  :

Wasn't Dogmeat like a grey pitbull or something?

Ian looks cool... A bit on the slim side but the wastelands do that too you.

yeah, forgot to mantion, Ian looks cool :ok: but he's supposed to be right-handed
