Our old poll "Where would you rather have Fallout 3 take place?" has been closed and, being one of the longer-running polls has garnered quite a lot of votes, 19271 votes total. The winner of the poll is the East Coast (NYC, Boston, Washington) at 20.49%, followed by West Coast (like Fallout 1/2) 19.29% and Eastern Europe/Russia at 19.12%. The huge Eastern European fanbase strikes again. The rest: Western (coastal) Europe 15.72%, Canada/Alaska 8.52%, Mid West (like Van Buren and Tactics) 8.17%, South East (Post Nuke Disney, Atlanta) 3.57%, China/Asia 2.95%, other, like Africa or South America 2.08%

Now we want to know from all our readers, not just the vocal minority, what it is that you really *don't* want to see in Fallout 3, what would make you chuck Bethesda's game right into the garbage bin. If I forgot something, post in the thread or use the submit news function.

Possibly.

The location poll was ripped off from DaC, by the way. How do the results compare? did you get roughly the same results as us when you held the poll?

Yeah...the majority was definitely for the East Coast of the US. I don't know if it's because people are tired of West Coast stuff, or because the East Coast has so much more to offer. Plus, Bethsoft is right here on the East Coast. But, hey, we'll see what happens.

I can't vote in this new poll. "What would you really hate to see in Fallout 3?" How about all of that (aside from TB combat, of course), and more? Now, if the question was "What would you hate *the most*?", the poll would make a lot more sense.

Then imagine in your fragile little mind that the words "the most" are behind that sentence, sheesh.

Remember the poll script sometimes strangely gets back to the default settings, making the filters useless. Do check on that please, old chaps. Cheerio.

Isometric perspective (like Fo 1, 2 and Van Buren)1.7%
Turn-based combat 1.3%

I am kinda suprised some people say this would make them chuck the game... but I guess its good to get a 100% overall poll from everyone and see just whats really lurking out there and may even spell what F3 will be like eventualy in a remote way. This however means people dont really want F3 in the Fallout sence, they just want a post-nuclear game... wich kinda sux.

I was glad to see thought that the "50's style loss" and "1st person perspective" were on top currently though. I myself had a hard choice between the 2 and eventualy chose 1st person view as I think it would just kill it 100% if it we not the same style view.

I sincerely hope that the game does turn out to be F3 and not just another BOS POS as these polls are sadly showing some people want. The number of votes against the goods will be interesting to see when its all over. How long will it run btw? A month?

And, a clarification about the poll, it's about the post-apocalyptic 50's science-fiction styles, not the whole Googie and Betty Page thing.

This should win handily. I would gladly give up the isometric perspective and go to first person if they managed to keep the feel of the world right. Changing the feel of the game's interface is something that can be adjusted to easily, but fucking with the setting...no, no. Even Fallout Tactics managed to preserve the feel of the world, although the storyline got a bit on the bizarre end.

None of these options capture what would kill it for me: Morrowind style dialogue. That would be a horror worthy of lynch mobs as far as I'm concerned.

Hmmm, what would I call that style? I'll have to add Fallout-style for fairness, so I could;
Branching dialogue (Fallout style)
...-dialogue (Morrowind style)

It was hard to pick only one, but I narrowed it down by assuming that Bethesda wouldn't go against the original feel and setting of the game and then asking myself "If they got everything right except for this one thing, which would be the worst?". So I picked RT/TB because in every game that I've played with that system the combat is so boring and unsatisfying that it's a chore to keep chugging through it, and the one thing I really don't want combat in FO3 to be is a "try to please everyone" system like the Infinity Engine games. I don't want real time combat or a first person view but I'd rather have a game that picks a side and stays with it than one that tries to compromise between the two and fails.

Edit: I should have picked "lack of setting", since the poll wasn't about assuming things but which one would be the worst to have. Since the main thing that seperates Fallout from other games and makes it stand out is it's setting and atmosphere, not having that same atmosphere would mean it wasn't a Fallout game in anything but name. So consider my vote changed.

I had to choose the lack of a post apoc world, but as has been mentioned, it was too difficult to choose...

And please no Morrowind shit, that would just be...ridiculous.

I think the commonly accepted terms are Dialogue-Trees and Wikilogue. Oh well.
