NetDevil, who you'll remember from the recently halted Auto Assault post-apocalyptic vehicle MMO, is bringing us the post-apocalyptic multi-player FPS Warmonger:
Warmonger is the first step to realizing a vision. NetDevil believes the next generation of FPS games will usher in new standards both in game play as well as technology that are currently unexplored. For decades the first person shooter has remained basically the same, granted there have been major shifts in style and technology, but basic game play has lacked any profound evolution. Physics technology has come to a point that will change all that, and change it forever. New rigid body technology and procedural destruction of game environments set the stage for dynamic content creation that is truly stunning and will literally change the way people think and play.

High performance FPS action is delivered in rich and stunning detail through the Unreal Engine 3. This has allowed the NetDevil team to give Warmonger's environments and special effects a depth and feel that reflect the cutting edge of gaming visuals. More than just dark and moody, the environments in Warmonger suggest utter devastation and convey deep drama. Interiors are dark and downright frightening, while exteriors feature hideously twisted buildings and massive smoldering rubble piles.

Looks good, I hope it won't end like Tabula Rasa...

Christ have I been disappointed by that one... I'm glad I did not purchase that!

Goweigus, its a run and gun game with some stats to your character... Thats really it, as far as I can tell there is no item acquisition asides from what you get after completion of quests... So, its been a real let down for me.

Lol, this game actually looks interesting to me. I think it's funny because of another FPS post apoc. game that's coming out in a year or so. The phrase "destruction is the new trees" comes to mind. Wonder if Beth will do something edgy to set themselves apart from games like this (and the others that will be out in the next year), making something unique, like the original FO's. Didn't really want to beth-flame on my first post (been lurking here for years), just struck me as humorus.

Well it's for free, maybe we can setup a few NMA members servers to try it out.
That, my friend, sounds like an excellent idea!

And in 3 months when I get a good connection I'll join.

Exactly...

I just realised that Warmonger is the game based on PhysX engine and I won't be able to run it on my rig. To fully enjoy the game you need PhysX card, if not, you can play only few maps, and from what I have heard(another game also on PhysX) performance is terrible.

i am in the TR closed beta ATM and while i cannot go into much detail, i do think that its a nice class-based FPS MMO, it doesnt exactly appeal to me.

the only thing i got interested in it in the first place was RGs name, but imo this is a travesty as to what he has done before.

he should go back to TB/ISO RPGs :D

Can´t you give a little more information? :D , that would make my day

nope, i cant go into much detail. PM me some questions as to what your looking for and i MAY be able to answer those but all i can really do is elaborate on stuff that has been publicly released.

If we are referring to Tabula Rasa... I went into details as to why the product was not my cup of perennial tea.

MapMan, aint that PhysX a bitch? Valve has been spouting off at Ageia as they don't see the logic behind a dedicated PhysX card given the state of microprocessing, where it is evolving and how quickly things are evolving.

TRSDOS comes to mind... When I think of the folks at Agiea.

Post apocalyptic Halo?
Try "post Apocalypse quake/doom/wolfenstein". Only because FPS's have already been done since the dawn of video games. And referring to such a newer game is kind of weird, considering there are hundreds of FPS's.
Just don't name a game thats so new(on the market), I mean; its been done literally HUNDREDS of times. Its nothing new(in reality).

it seems the NDA was released for tabula rasa so ill go into some details.

1) the char creation is quite useless. the only real permanent things is skin color and hair, which you will never see as you wear helmets.

2) they are continually balancing weapons but untill they achieve a good balance, the best route is the commando with RPGs for damage. if you are going to get a good solid group of regular people its good to have one of them be a healer but rest need to be commandos. the other " archetypes " are more for flavor and some dont work very well yet.

3) the interface is quite limited in what it does, very few options. you can have up to 5 weapons readied and you will have 2-3 you constnatly switch between due to weap/armor decay and overheating. most people have like 2-3 shotguns/RPGs, 1 emp type for stripping mob armor, and 1 rifle or pistol. they keep tweaking how much damage weapons do and some patches make it easy and worthwhile, and other patches make it damn near impossible to solo.

4) you are going to be soloing a lot. simple fact is its faster untill you get into serious instances which you dont need untill like level 9-10. the hardest levels are going to be levels 12-15 because at 15 you get access to your first real specialty weapons which is going to be the core of your damage dealing.

5) the levelling system and tiers is not very good. grinding is not effective at all, questing is really the only way to level. say at level 10 you need 120k xp to level, your normal quest will give 5-8k xp while a single mob will give you like 100-150xp. admittedly there are enough quests to get you through the areas but its always going to be rough from 12-15. everyone is the same 1-4, at 5-14 is the first actual tier, 15-29 is the next class tier, and 30+ is the last tier and the level cap is 50. there is only guild/clan PvP and there isnt really objectives its just added on as an afterthought.

anything else you want to know?

Yeah, where is the story in todays FPS? Can't see how a PhysX processor can replace a good designed story for a game!
