But best title ever!

EDIT: the press release.<blockquote>BETHESDA SOFTWORKS ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR FALLOUT®: NEW VEGAS™ ADD-ON GAME CONTENT
First Fallout: New Vegas Downloadable Content Exclusive to Xbox LIVE

October 18, 2010 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced plans to develop add-on content for Fallout®: New Vegas™, the follow-up to the 2008 Game of the Year, Fallout® 3. The first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

“We’re excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox LIVE,” said Pete Hines, VP of Marketing and PR of Bethesda Softworks. “Fans will once again be able to continue their experience in the Fallout universe with the add-on packs planned for after the launch of the game.”

Fallout: New Vegas brings this beloved franchise to a location only Fallout could do justice: Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.

“Bethesda set a high bar with the quality of the Fallout game add-ons,” said Matt Barlow, General Manager, IEB Product Marketing for Microsoft. “We have no doubt that gamers will be thrilled with seeing a new add-on pack extend their adventures with Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.”

Published by Bethesda Softworks, Fallout: New Vegas is set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows on October 19th in North America, October 21st in Australia and on October 22nd in Europe.

More details about plans for additional content will be released in the coming weeks.

Fallout®: New Vegas, developed at Obsidian Entertainment, has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information on Fallout: New Vegas, visit http://fallout.bethsoft.com.

I know its no longer a surprise that the Xbox 360 is the target format.

But this whole exclusives crap is getting out of proportions, especially as its the PC that made Fallout big, and not the Bro-box.

I hope its just hats and stupid clothes.

I'm pretty sure PC will have it right away. It's usually included with 360 in exclusivity deals these days

Fairly sure that Incognito is right, but since no article mentions PC as getting the DLC at the same time, I couldn't put that in the news.

The DLC tab on New Vegas STEAM already works, so you should be right.

Don't really care about the DLC all that much. If it's going to be Bethesda that is developing the DLC, I'm gonna laugh the living crap outta' myself.

I shudder to think that Bethesda might release DLC into New Vegas that just does the same thing that Broken Steel did, only stupider.

Then again, if Obsidian is making DLC, we can probably expect something decent.

Then then again again, Bethesda will probably make them do something stupid like Area 51 and it's full of ALIENS making zombies and mutants and you have to shoot your way inside to stop their leader. Avoid hitting civvies and fellow soldiers to keep from losing points!

If Obsidian will produce bad writing I'll blame it on Obsidian not on Bethesda. But for now, it's far too early to do more than make guesses.

Well, that we will see DLCs for the game was clear anyway, so I see nothing fancy in them adding it already to the main menu.

What I meaned was the DLC tab, if you right click on a game in your steam library. Various games have a DLC tab there, even though they don't have DLCs available.

It works because of the shop exclusives stuff which is directly handled as DLC.

Steven, you just made me vomit in my own mouth. I am sad to hear that DLC is already going to come out so early and fearful that Bethsoft will make it.

Honestly, I'm also sick of the DLC trend of bleeding consumers left and right for stuff that's generally not worth it. I think Valve is the only company not interested in raping their customers.... except when Microsoft forces them to charge on the XBox, but that's expected from such a slimy company.

Not necessarily. It was included in the case of FO3, but that was because FO3 also used GFW Live. Now they use Steam.

Hmm, mods or Obsidian DLC. Decisions decisions. (Not being sarcastic here I'm still trying to decide wether to buy the 360 version or the PC version).
Let's hope hell doesn't freeze over and that Bethsoft will be nickel and diming the consumer with random DLC involving simulations, aliens that fuck up the canon or some half-assed alternative ending.

You get both on the PC. :smug:

I'm not so sure, I just read this:

Info on the content will be “released in the coming weeks.”

“We’re excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox LIVE,” said Bethesda’s US PR boss Pete Hines.

“We have no doubt that gamers will be thrilled with seeing a new add-on pack extend their adventures with Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE,” added Microsoft GM product manager for IEB, Matt Barlow.

I noticed a few things:
We’re excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft...
No mention of Obsidian.

We have no doubt that gamers will be thrilled with seeing a new add-on pack extend their adventures with Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.
No mention of PC.

Also no mention of timed exclusivity or anything.
I hope they don't screw their PC-based fans.

Hmm, I guess my smugness was preemptive. I wouldn't fret too much about it, but who knows? I guess if the PC sales weren't significant enough, I wouldn't want to port over the DLC either.
Still - I'd much rather have the mods if it came down to the choice. Not even a matter of the money - the mod content is just much better/diverse. I've always been a sucker for balancing mods(which hopefully we don't have to worry about as much this time).
