NMAs favorite cult films and obscure films double thread

R.Graves

Confirmed Retard
Not gonna go into to much detail here but if this thread takes off I'll probably be in here a lot.

Just looking at my shelf

The entire askewniverse. Not particularly well shot films but I love its characters. They all have an undeniable charm.

Big Trouble in little china. Just watch it.

The Hatchet Trilogy. If you like slasher films give it a shot.

Juno. A cute film about teen pregnancy.

Jeepers creepers. Cool monster flick.

Is it too early to call hardcore henry a cult film? Ah here's a shoutout anyway. Its Entirely first person action movie filled with great excuses for it to be the way that it is.

The Fly (1986) Go watch it. Now. It may have been financially successful upon release but I'm passionate about this movie and feel it doesnt get enough love.

The Lost boys. As far as I know it's the only good vampire movie.

The evil dead trilogy.

As far as obscure movies go I have this independent film called vulgar on dvd.. Honestly just check it out its fucked but it has a nice message about karma.

Jacob's Ladder (1990)

A Boy and His Dog (1975) - A very fun little post-apocalyptic flick.

Following - Nolan movie about stalking

Pi (1998) - Good story about an introvert mathematician trying to look for patterns in the stock market

The Sound of My Voice - story about a cult with a leader who claims to be from the future.

The title says it's also about cult films.
Even then, that implies a relatively small but loyal audience.

Juno, Mad Max and Monty Python and the Holy Grail were all insanely popular and well-known films.

It also implies a certain degree if fanaticism. Technically the traditional definition of a cult film is one that made no money upon release but found it's audience later. For the sake of the thread we can stretch the definition a bit. Calm down.

Children of the Corn 1984 - movie about a group of kids indoctrinated into a cult

I always stay away from these threads because I never know if movies I watched can be considered cult or obscure.

I will say that pretty much anything made by Ralph Bakshi. I remember watching his movies when I was younger and I did enjoy them. But I haven't watched them in like 20 years or something, so I don't know if they aged nicely or not.

I guess I should try and get my hands on those movies again. I have been in a mood for some movie nostalgia.

You're from Australia, right? You probably have better access to stuff like, obscure Philippine action movies from the 80's, or something from say, Indonesia, lol.

Day of the wacko(2002)- Drama-comedy. Great movie, that isn't well known.
It's like Piranha Bytes movie.

Just trust me and ratings of those that watched ;)

Ex Drummer

IMDB description is absolutely enough to describe it:
"Three handicapped losers who form a band ask famous writer Dries to be their drummer. He joins the band and starts manipulating them."

Gummo has been first date material for the past two girlfriends I've had. The first one threw her car keys at my face in a drunken rage after the retarded prostitute scene. Great film.

Man, I got really uncomfortable just by watching the trailer. I gotta watch it.

Pretty sure it's the same director as Kids which is a little more well known but just as fucked up and completely first date material.

I was 11 when this came out and remember worshiping this movie (oh, youth) and as a skateboarder kid in Jersey during the 90's this film was pretty accurate compared to what us kids were like back then.

I do know many a girl I fancied stopped being attractive after they showed either disinterest or disgust for weird shit I showed them.
