Nuts for Jericho, Caps for Fallout ?

Aaargh

First time out of the vault
What if every Fallout fan were sending some caps (coka or not) to Bethesda as fans of Jericho TV show sent nuts to CBS to protest for the serie disapearing ?

Would this helps Bethesda keep in mind that Fallout will never fall in oblivion ...

It's perhaps a bit early as, after all, F3 (F101 ?!) will perhaps have good dialogs, original storyline, interesting combats and a vast world to explore (and great music and scenery).

Any other idea on how to prove them / show them before it is too late that Fallout just need to be Fallout ?

I'm more inclined to send them gecko skins instead.

nice...
No protesting to Bethesda is pointless, unless you are their investors or owners or have millions or something like that, or some major game pr people who can bad mouth them real good...

Actually, I've considered sending in a box full of packaging peanuts...

It shows, "yeah I'm getting a package"... but what's it filled with? Something with substance? No... just filler material that is easily blown about on the breezes of coming and going fads.

Also nice, make sure you put that quote on a note at the bottom of the box!

If anyone actually want to protest and make a difference (what this difference is because none of us actually seen the game for ourselves is beyond me) you have to think of ways to hurt the company financially and then just maybe they will listen. Bitching about every little detail that none of us really know anything about and bad mouthing their products for no real reason is pointless. The guys that say they wont buy the game are on the right track.

How about sending live fire-geckos? That would convey the message much more effectively. Just kidding... I don't wish for anyone to die, unlike someone at Gamespy.

Anyway, there's no way Bethsoft will back down now, with all the time and money spent making FO3 their way, and with the mainstream press hailing them for the "immershun" the game provides.

Seems to me the best way to hurt a company would be to purchase the game.. find all the "naughty bits" and then point them out to church groups and parent groups.... then let them do all the complaining for you.

Not buying the game wouldn't solve anything because they would still sell a million copies.

They complain all the time about GTA et al. and it didn't hurt the franchise the very least. In fact, I bet it made some people buy the game out of spite for those "think of the children" whackos. It was free publicity.

Also, I'm against speaking about games to such people in principle.

I second that. Bethesda may be an enemy of true Fallout, but still they are a gaming company. We, gamers should stick together when it comes to dealing with enemies of computer games.

Stick together all you want.. but if parents groups and church groups can't accomplish anything.. How do you guys expect to?

All you'll be able to do is sit here and voice your opinion on how much you don't like Bethesda.. While most others (Including me) will be sitting at home playing a really fun game.

It's kind of like protesting a book you've never read or a movie you've never seen... How can you form an original thought on an idea you've never experienced based on the opinions of others?

At any rate in releasing Fallout 3 it will allow new generations of people to find and fall in love with Fallout 1 and 2... How can that be a bad thing?

*yawn*
How about we've formed an opinion on what Bethesda has shown us, which is *plenty* of information.

Because this new game does not resemble Fallout 1 and 2, it is of a completely different style of gameplay. In other words, even *if* new people get to enjoy Fallout 3, Fallout as a series will not be like Fallout 1 and 2 again.

There is nothing to accomplish. Bethesda will make the games as they damn please. Everything that could have been done to persuade them to listen to the fans and do a game that plays like the original ones has already been done.

Voicing my opinion on the game (and voting with my wallet) is good enough for me. The Fallout brand is hardly going to switch hands in the next few years, so there is nothing to be done. Bethesda already made it clear they are not listening to those of us who want something that resembles the originals.

And yet in the previous quote you already stated it'll be a "really fun game". Furthermore, as Sander already pointed out, the info we got is already enough to form an opinion (and mine is pretty damn negative).

I fell in love with Fallout and Fallout2 by... you know... playing them. Not by playing Tictacs or FOPOS (which seem to resemble the originals just a bit less than Fallout3).

Of course it won't resemble 1 and 2.. it's been 10 years.. Things change.. If things didn't change we never would have played Fallout because no one would have created computers. Things might not change the way we want them to but no one really has control over that.

When I first played Fallout I thought "Wow! Games will never get better than this," And now I'm looking at Mass Effect and Assassins Creed and thinking the same thing.. In another ten years I hope that I'll still be saying that. I hope I never get to a point that i'm sitting around pining for the "Good ol' days"

And now I'm looking at Mass Effect....and thinking the same thing

Ehehehe. Teh funny!

Just out of curiosity, in what way is Mass Effect better than say... Lionheart? I wouldn't dare ask how is it better than Fallout.

Also, again, change isn't always good. Why the hell do these kids insist on repeating everything they hear on TV?

What exactly DID change so that we have computers now? It's called technological advancement. Nothing changed.
Fallout 3 has no other technological advancement over Fallout 1 & 2 other than a graphic engine.

"Things change?" Not in a good sequel, they don't. Of course, everyone here wants evolution, but not the kind of "evolution" Beth has implemented on Fallout.

Hmm, how can you say that Mass Effect and Assassins Creed will be the best games ever? Have you played them?

So if they wanted to change everything, why did they acquire the license for the brand? And why are they changing things for the worse? To follow your dumb analogy would make it seem that computers are worse than paper archives and manual tabulators, just as Fallout3 looks like a step back from what we've seen in Fallout. Slapping guns on Oblivion, improving the graphics even further and then calling it Fallout3 is not progress IMHO, if it sacrifices what I liked in the originals.

Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed are action games. Fallout is a classic RPG. Fallout3 will be an action RPG. The gameplay will be totally different. And I'm kinda stuck in the "Good ol' days" because some game genres which I happen to like very much, are dead. RPG is one of them. Space-sim is another.

And thanks for missing the point. Yes, things change. However, in a sequel, the core design shouldn't change. Because it's a sequel, and not a spin-off.
And yes, the core design also contains turn-based combat.

Heh, how's that for comparing three completely different types of games.
Yes, things evolve. That doesn't mean that they all 'evolve' to the same type of mainstream game.

Man it's like sitting under the grumpy old guys balcony from the muppet show here.

1. I never said Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed..will be "Better" Than what we've played in the past...I have not played them. Games change, Times change... Why not have fun with what's available to you now?

2. A good sequel is a continuation of one idea.. but you can't keep rehashing the same idea and expect to keep an audience.. Eventually all shows/games/movies/books, go through a change to keep up with the times and they either bomb or sell.

3. read number 1.

4. They change to sell to a large market.. not to keep the thousand or so hardcore fans that couldn't keep a franchise in buisness anyway.

5. Turn based combat is slow,... Kids want fast paced action. Who buys the most games?.. 12 to 15 year olds.. the market is dictated by who buys.

So .. by not buying a game you lose out on getting to dictate what you like in games.. You lose the market.. If you really wanted to do something about Bethesda you have only one option.. buy enough shares of stock in the company so that they HAVE to listen to you.
