NV voice acting.

I know this has been said before, and I hear FO3 is much worse, but i have to say: the 5 different voice actors they use to voice the 100's or even 1000's characters in NV is RIDICULOUS!!

I'm new to FO3/NV and this was one of the first flaws that struck me and has only got worse as i explore and play the DLC's. I CANNOT BELIEVE they would spend $$$millions on these games and then employ 5 voice actors!! It's insane! I've got to the point where I cannot be bothered to listen to the same voices pretending to be different characters over and over. In fact, there doesn't appear to be much 'acting' from these 'voice actors' as they always use the same voice!

Does this grate on you guys as much as me?

No, because that's only true for generic NPCs. I spend time listening to named, notable NPCs, who have good-to-great voice acting.

Dude are you serious? Most of the named NPC's use the same voice. Sometimes you can hear the voice actor trying to change their voice a little from character to character but to me it's obviously the same actor and i feel like i'm meeting the same people over and over again in different bodies!

I will prefer having more dialogues, even if all NPCs would be without any voices.
Yeah it would be better but Todd add fullvoice instead of more dialog since oblivion. what a shame.

Yeah Skyrim was a break through with bethesda voice acting...I don't really care much about it honestly though, as long as the actual dialog is genuine.

Pretty much every NPC worth listening to is a real goddamn actor and I will never not listen to Caesar because Jon Doman.

But contents of dialog became worse though.

^ ehh, really just an opinion
Quaility of voice acting and writing maybe improved though.
But asking too little things compare to morrowind and oblivion.
Why the hell TES follows fallout's way of dialog?
I don't think Fallout's dialog system that actual dialog with target is important doesn't fit for TES that rumor and chitchat is important.

So they employed a reasonable variety of voice actors for Skyrim huh?
But the content got worse!? Classic!

At some point i can understand the problem they have - these games have 100's of characters. They can't employ 100's - or probably even 50 voice actors.
But then to me the problem must surely be more the voice actors themselves - to me a good actor is someone who can convincingly portray many different characters on stage/film. So a good voice actor should be able to portray many different characters by voice alone.

But for the record i think NV is a great game, BTW - it's just that the voices really grated on me the first time i played it, and still do to this day.

For me, it's completely unnecessary.

Amen brother. You don't need to convince me of this - i love FO1 & 2 and the characters voices were alive in my head!

Oh the voices! make them stop!

@Josan12...once again, i dont really see how "the content got worse" but thats just me. There was a significant increase in voice actors hired for skyrim as you pointed out. I agree with your statement about what makes a good voice actor, however, I still don't see how one would find it to be bad necessarily.

Good thing is elf males has various voices instead of one voice! Bravo!

It's still around. They're just using it for ghouls now.

If the voices annoy you, there is an option to turn them off in the settings menu....

Yeah, i've thought about that. But then i'd miss new voices when they crop up and as i've only played through i think 50% of the game that would be a shame.
I really liked the voice of Joshua Graham for example.

Has anyone tried playing without voice? It'd be interesting to hear if the game still works 'imagining' the voices like you have to with FO1&2.

Wait, I'm not trying to be a prick here, but Graham? Really? He's got a pretty good voice actor by Bethesda standards, but I found his reading to be incredibly flat. Not flat like a calm, centered, reborn man of purpose, not flat like the eye of a storm, just... flat.
