NWN2 is gold...

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Strange that you did not comment anything.

New SP campaign ala Kotor
New clases
New prestige clases
New graphics
"Improved" Aurora Toolset.

The game will be released without DM client

We post news about Fallout in particular and post-apocalyptica in general, but not RPGs in general.

Well, you did comment, didn't you? We were waiting.

Thanks for waiting me.

I liked a lot NWN, specially in persistent worlds created by users. Single player campaign sucked, but multiplayer was great. It's a game with a great community.

I'm not really enthusiastic about it but I'll probably pick it up at some point since it's one of the few RPG type games coming out.

I really wish they would ditch their idiotic combat system and pick a side though. Real-time or turn-based, I don't really care which, either is better than the passive "click and watch" system they always use. It's a game - I want to play it, not watch the computer play it for me. Seriously, who finds that enjoyable? "Wow, my character is attacking without any input from me! And if I want to, I can set up a queue of orders that may or may not have any effect on the game! This is a blast!"

And the crappiest engines ever made. Seriously, what the hell is a Persistent World development tool if you can't even store data properly and have to save your progress every minute because it will probably crash? And for god's sake, there are *still* a shitload of bugs in the game itself. After dozens of patches and some 5 years. What the fuck?

Anyway, I'm not expecting much from NWN2. It might be decent, I don't know. I haven't played KoTOR2 either so I really have no idea, and Avellone (or is it JE Sawyer who's working on this?) seems to be a really, really inconsistent developer quality-wise.

May be, but I have enjoyed in some RPG servers like no other game. Is the only cRPG online where I found people for roleplaying. In most MMORPG, or may be ALL MMORPG, players only want to see grow up his pennis... I mean, his character.

You should try the COPAP, it's something like a roleplay servers net .

Anyway, you can bet that NWN2 will be better than Oblivious.

Saludos.

I found KOTOR2 to be much better than the first one, despite the incredibly annoying bugs. There was something about it's atmosphere and style that made it much more interesting than the first one, much darker (or at least, as dark as Star Wars can get).

I am therefore remaining cautiously optimistic about NWN2. If they could just focus on a good story rather than insane DnD munchkinism they might just be able to pull it off. With or without phase-based combat or whatever they call that shit.

And what I would consider to be one of the biggest let down endings ever...

other than that, good game, they just shouldn't have tried for the big twist that you would see coming if it wasn't so stupid...

At this point, does it matter? As long as they are developing along the trademark Feargus "SLAM DUNK!" half-assed munchkinfesting, they'll still be sucking BioWare hind tit.

My opinion: D&D was made to be played on the table, nowhere else; if you want electronic RPG, play Fallout.

I don't want to choose, I played Fallout and many other cRPG's. But... since Vampire Bloodlines I have not found any good cRPG. And Vampire BL had some nasty bugs and many action levels at the end.
I like a lot multiplayer, and NWN is the only one which allows me to play with my friends in RPG servers.

The idea of being able to pnp without actually having to sit in the same room with your friends (a bunch of smelly, hairy d&d fanatics) does have it's merits.

I picked up KOTOR 2 the other week, it was on budget and the satellite stations have been playing all 6 SW movies for the past month so I was in the mood. I'd have to say though without lightsabers, slave costumes, wookies and blasters it would've gone straight from the bargin bin to my waste bin. I couldn't imagine playing anything like it with only normal swords and spells instead of force powers.

I predict that there will be a lot of missing persons reports filed and somehow I will be tasked with finding them.

Yay! :P

But changing the subject and still remaining on-topic, does anyone know if NWN2 engine will be flexible or not? If it is, maybe the Nuclear Winter Nights group can mod it  (what happened to Nuclear Winter Nights anyway? Did they stop?)

Well, it will be moddable if that's what you mean. If it's of the same quality as the modding tools that came with NWN1, though, heh...

People who tried the new toolset say it's about a million times better than the old one. It's already available as a free download, so I might give it a try if I have time.

although the toolset has horrible performance issues (and they recalled the statement that there would be a linux version btw. too bad.).
