On people saying that Borderlands and Fallout 3 are the same

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
Making her intention explicit with the title of the editorial, Nicole Kline from WarpZoned reminds us why it's dumb to state that Borderlands and Fallout 3 are the same game and why wasteland settings can still be very different. Here's a snip on the latter:
There is NOTHING AT ALL similar about these settings. Borderlands is a science fiction game set on an alien planet called Pandora, which is an attraction for treasure hunters looking for the fabled Vault. It’s chock full of colorful locals, alien monsters, and a plethora of loot. Sure, it’s a “wasteland,” and it’s got a lot of stuff made out of trash, but it’s an alien planet that is primarily populated by crazy people. Fallout 3 is an alternate history science fiction setting, in which nuclear war destroyed the Earth back in the 1950s, meaning everything is nostalgic and 50s style. The beginning of the game takes place in a Vault in which survivors have lived for generations, but your character escapes and wanders the surface. The surface is a “wasteland,” yes, and again, it has a lot of stuff made out of trash, but that’s because it’s all the people on the surface have left. The similarities in how it looks really stop there.

You can't really compare a game that is a first person Diablo and whatever Fallout 3 is.

Fallout 3 is an alternate history science fiction setting, in which nuclear war destroyed the Earth back in the 1950s, meaning everything is nostalgic and 50s style.

Does that mean that F3 is an alternative history to the alternative history? :V

In Borderlands the combat was fun.

Yeah. Well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I had to at least use tactics every once in a while in F3 and F:NV. Borderlands, you just had to be decent at getting headshots(I think Mordecai was unbalanced, though, with those buckshot revolvers).

I liked the combat in NV more than Fallout for some reason but the melee fights were still pretty reminiscent of Team America

I would like to remind you all that game exploits is not considered tactics. In Fallout 3, you have no tactics.

Of course they are different. In Borderlands the combat was fun.

Indeed. Any maybe Borderlands doesn't try to be something it isn't.
Another difference for me would be, I liked Borderlands. And the
last shooter I liked may have been Duke Nukem 3D. :?

Borderlands and Oblivion are not the same, which means Borderlands and Fallout 3 are not the same. Case solved!

Thanks for clearing that up Nicole Kline, I don't think I would have ever figured that out without your guidance.

The thing that connects both the most are the bad shooting mechanics, both simply feel somewhat sluggish.

But then again for a quaker everything feels sluggish.

its a same never-ending story like between "call of duty" & "battlefield", "quake" & "unreal tournament", "cola" & "pepsi" etc. etc., so im quit.

Hey pictures from the cola wars.
Many lives were lost during that struggle.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Very funny ...

As for the article:
Borderlands – a first-person shooting role-playing game...Fallout 3 – a third-person shooting role-playing game...

What a difference, hun?

The real problem is they are the same shit, is all about loot, loot, loot and who shots first, wins.
Your attributes and build don't matter too high when a game is like this.

Therefore, the same game.
