I remember seeing a video at some point where one of the original Fallout team said that SPECIAL wasn't the original name. Anyone know which video that was? Or what the name was?

It was originally Steve Jackson's GURPS, then the GURPS company realised how violent Fallout was/is they withdrew their system and support from the game.

The Vault says "Tim Cain stated that he originally was going to call the "SPECIAL" system "AECLIPS"." I couldn't find any written source for that, though. I have a vague recollection that they changed the name of an attribute to get a better acronym but I could be wrong.
Edit: A little more searching revealed it was actually ACELIPS. Stupid Vault.

Tim Cain's GDC talk is the video you probably mean. He talks about the abbreviation at 27:25.
