STOCKHOLM - Oct. 29, 2015 - Paradox Interactive, a global games developer and publisher, today announced the acquisition of White Wolf Publishing from CCP Games in an all-cash deal. Now a subsidiary of Paradox Interactive, White Wolf Publishing is a licensing business that owns and manages intellectual properties including World of Darkness, Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Led by CEO Tobias Sjögren, former EVP of Business Development at Paradox, White Wolf Publishing will operate as an independent entity with a dedicated team.

White Wolf Publishing has a long history of producing gaming universes that span mediums, including tabletop and collectible card games, PC games and books. Paradox Interactive acquired all of White Wolf’s brands, and its new subsidiary will pursue development opportunities across relevant categories of games under the White Wolf Publishing name.

“Like Paradox’s games, White Wolf’s properties have dedicated, passionate communities. While there are similarities in spirit, White Wolf’s IPs have very different themes than Paradox’s titles, and deserve their own brand and team,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO and President of Paradox Interactive. “We have great respect for White Wolf’s gaming worlds and see big opportunities for their expansion in the future under our new subsidiary.”

“Over the last 20 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with beloved studios like DICE and Paradox on the business management side of games, and as a developer earlier in my career. I look forward to bringing my experience to bear as we pursue new ways to interact with White Wolf’s universes,” said Tobias Sjögren, CEO of White Wolf Publishing. “The White Wolf IPs are well suited for all kinds of media and we see great potential to expand them in the future.”

"At CCP, we have great admiration for the White Wolf brands and communities, and it was extremely important to us that the acquiring company share the same respect and understanding,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “With Paradox, we know we are leaving the brands in good hands."

This is awesome news. Maybe we'll get a new Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines game out of this. I'm optimistic!!! :)

Selfish Side Note: I started writing for a friend's website so I wrote an article about it. Check it out if you want, don't if you don't want. Up to you. ;)

Vampire: The Masquerade

I don't know much about both of these parties, but the chain of words above cast a Trance spell on me :freak:. Must.... resist.... but the prospects are so shiny...

Oh. I see. Your post seemed cryptic to me. I thought you were talking abut Vampire and The Masquerade not being known to you but you were talking about Paradox and CCP. I get it now. Sorry. :P

There's no FPRPG that brings more smiles to NMAers' faces than V:tM-B, I bet.

I hope Paradox does it right and isn't forced to cut corners like Troika was...

Going forward will they use Old World Of Darkness or new (WOD). Vampire (pnp) underwent some changes post 2000. Clans got dropped or powers changed around etc.

I said this over at Codex but they should do something with the Hunters. That way you can incorporate all of the various elements into one RPG easy enough.

The prospects are pretty much slim to none, but I would really like a Kindred of the East game myself, to be perfectly honest.

EDIT: (slightly) more likely, a Promethean game would also be just as good.

EDIT2: I've already said this on the codex, but I'll say it again. NO MMOs.

So, yeah, this news is making me want to play this game again. Already played through with the latest Unofficial Patch so I'm trying something new. Installing the Clan Quest Mod. Never tried it but it runs on Unofficial Patch and Camarilla Lite (which I have used before) so it's the mod that changes the least stuff as far as I can tell. Might do Final Nights at some point, not that ambitious yet. :P

I also know I have Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption in one of my many boxes somewhere. Was tempted to try that again. Been forever since I played it and it was...okay... :P

Speaking of which, saw someone suggest the Crusader Kings people make a turn-based successor to Redemption set in the middle ages. Sounds good to me. Would still prefer a new Bloodlines or a spiritual successor or whatever, but yeah, that'd be a good first step to getting the franchise back in the digital arena. Would require less of a budget too.
