So, a friend of mine sent me a link to a blog with pictures from an old bomb shelter in Stockholm. There are some strange pictures in the beginning, because the blog belongs to a band who took pictures for album art down there.

Since it's in swedish I'll translate some of the more interesting remarks, although I don't know if they are correct. Apparently, the shelter was finished in 1977 and everything in is still in mint condition due to the careful control of the environment in there. The visitors say it's utterly silent, and the air is sort of like that aboard an airplane. To protect against EMP, the entire buildings are covered in steel plates.

Chances are you'll be finding the use of the word "slut" out of place on that sign, the mentions of "kom" and "slut" refers to radio messages like over and out. There's a black board with red, orange and green lights on it, that tells you what parts of the shelter are clean, and which are contaminated.
Apparently there is a switchboard with the ability to take over emergency broadcasts or something along those lines. The guy that had keys to this place told them not to fiddle with it because they don't know if it's still working.

The whole building under the mountain rests on some kind of springs. The matresses in the beds are still in their plastic wrappings.

There are also some technical specs if you happen to be scandianvian and want to read them...

Closest thing to a Vault I've seen I guess, pretty cool.

Let's see if I can give you a teaser...

Enjoy the pics.

This is relevant to my interests.

This is incredibly cool! I never knew. Are they referring to the triangular slabs?

For non-Scandinavians this roughly translates to:
"There is a gigantic bomb shelter beneath Sergels Square in Stockholm with capacity for 8000 people. In the event of an attack one rises a few slabs in the square revealing stairs going underground"

The office pic looks like something from The Andromeda Strain. Sweeeeeet

Yeah I would imagine it's those black and white triangles on "plattan". I found that really fascinating too. The cold war really left some crazy marks of paranoia behind... I want to see those triangles opened! They're talking about rebuilding Sergels Square now I think, wonder how that'll work out with regards to the shelter.

There's a giant bomb shelter under my district. I don't think it's in working condition, thought.

Ummm, your on the wrong forum bro. We gots our shit and plans laid out for when that happens, and we did it correctly, when we were 12.

I can't stand those survival shows like Survivorman and Man vs. Wild. I don't know why...

And I don't believe either of them have shown how to survive a nuclear holocaust.

Unless you are an expert Krypto. Then you get to sit in that orange chair from the seventies until you lose it and blow your brains out.

Hi guys!

Noticed incoming links to my blog and found this place. Thanks for posting my images here!

If you're interested, there's a Flickr set with many more photos and captions in English from our visit to that bunker:

Also, we searched and searched and finally found its twin bunker. They were designed to support northern and southern Stockholm respectively, but the guy who showed us the first one (the north station) didn't want to say where the other one was. But we found it after some digging into old files.

Obviously had no keys tho, and these places are a little tricky to get into without one. :) .. Pictures here anyway:

Cheers
