Real life insperations for NV guns?

Felspawn

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Anyone have a list? i've been told by the powers that be at "The Vault" that unless JE Sawyer or one of the guys says "this gun is based on _______" they wont list it in the wiki. That said something like

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnum_Research_BFR

is the obvious inspiration for the Ranger Sequoia (down to the .45-70 rounds)

In some cases we know that the NV weapon isnt an exact copy (like This Machine and the M1 Garand) or isnt based on a RL gun (That gun) but i was hoping to see an complete a list as possible, or compile one. So anyone know of a list, or if not what RL guns the guns of NV are modeled on

Well, I know the All American is an M1 Garand. The minigun looks like the same minigun made by GE, but not turret-mounted. The .45 is self explanatory. The Anti-materiel' rifle looks like the 12.7mm sabot-type found in RL, but that's a guess.

Huh?

9mm pistol and Maria are Browning Hi-Power pistols
.45 SMG is a Thompson
.45 Pistol is a m1911
The Burning Mans pistol is a Commander length pistol with sights removed (and a 'trough" sight to make it easier to conceal and draw)
the 9mm SMG is a M3 grease gun (converted to 9mm... rare but there are kits to do that. the drum for it looks like a converted Soumi drum with a feed tower added
The Service Rifle looks like an early AR-15 (but with the purple stocks of a very early AR-10)
The .357 revolver is modeled on the colt peacemaker
The Cowboy carbine, brush gun and trail carbines are all modeled on various models of Winchester or marlin lever action rifles
The anti material rifle looks like it was based on the Hecate rifle to me
the LMG looks like an early M-249
The marksman carbine/all american looks like some sort of M4 carbine
the .44 magnum is supposed to be a S&W model 29
the silenced .22 is a ruger MK II
The Silenced SMG is an american 180 SMG
the Police pistol looks like a police positive pistol
The automatic rifle is a BAR
the assault carbine looks like an XM177 (M-16)

Done typing for today

Well done sir, thank you

The 9mm Pistol is a Brown Hi-Power, which are the best.
.45 Auto Pistol a M1911A1
.45 SMG is some variant of the Thompson Submachine gun.
9mm Sub Machinegun is a M3 Grease Gun, though rechambered (or chalk this up to Timeline Diversion) in 9mm.
the Service Rifle looks like a M16A1/XM16E177, but with a charging handle on the bolt on the side instead of on top.
The Assault Carbine is pretty much the same thing, but based off a M4 pattern rifle.
Ditto the marksman carbine.
The Survivalist Rifle is similar, but a reference to the .50 Beowulf Rifle, a rifle/upper receiver for AR-15 pattern rifles designed to be used to stop vehicles at checkpoints.
The Light Machine Gun looks like a some precursor to the M249 SAW or FN MINIMI
the Automatic Rifle is a Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR.
This Machine is based on the M1 Rifle, .30 Caliber. It's not called a M1 Garand. And you're pronouncing Garand wrong.
The Laser RCW is some sort of crazy laser minigun built around the frame of a Thompson submachine gun.
The Riot Shotgun looks like an Armsel Striker. The lever action shotgun looks like a Model 1887 shotgun
The Grenade Rifle is a M79 "Thumper" and the Grenade launcher is a China Lake grenade launcher.
The Minigun does not look like a M134 minigun, because it's barrels are fucking huge. Same sort of thing, though.

The revolvers I'm by and large unfamiliar with, so I'll leave them alone.

The hunting rifle looks like a mauser 98 to me (sporterized version)
the 12.7mm SMG is made up, but has elements of the Colonial Marines pulse rifle from the movie Aliens (the un used mag well between the grips) and has a P90 magazine on top.

That Gun is of course modeled on the pistol from blade runner (which is actually two guns welded together- a charter arms revolver and a bolt action .222 rifle cut down to just a few inches and mounted on top of the revolver.

The 10mm SMG is a made up gun (from earlier fallouts) but resembles more or less the Croat AGRAM smg (in my opinion)

The lever action shotgun is supposed to be a winchester leveraction shot gun (like in Terminator 2) but almost all of those in reality were 12 or 10 gauge, not 20 gauge

I always took the 10mm SMG to be a sort of not quite MP5/10.

That Gun's top half a was the action from a Mannlicher rifle welded on top of some .44 revolver. Don't remember which sort though.

And yeah, the 1887 was what was used in T2.

I don't really see a K98 of some sort in the Hunting Rifle. I don't see much of anything, really.

The Gauss-rifle is based on the Lahti L39 antitank rifle with the magazine moved to the side.

No Boys-rifle in there, Silas ;)

thanks for the no-words image spam post?

Begging your pardon?

I thought the post was pretty self-explainatory as far as any bi-pedal primate is conserned. I'll make sure to put some random letter like "F" in my future posts so your brain doesn't get overheated from the infinite enigma that my posts seem to be.

WOW the guns are pretty cool, I like them, I want them in my collections. I'll post mine here soon, I'll be back.

It was a Charter Arms Bulldog.
