If the player has a weapon, everytime they want to open a door or container, they have to holster their weapon, do the hand fiddling animation then unholster it. This gets really old quickly. Is there a way to mod the game so that the player doesnt need to do the animation and the door/container just opens whenever the player is close enough and clicks on it?

Keep one weapon slot filled with a non-weapon/empty?
 
Either that or, because people are lazy nowadays, set "InstantWeaponEquip" to 1 in the ddraw.ini file.

I don't like the later, tbh, and rather only equip one weapon only. It makes you chose, and if you chose wrong, you'll have to spend APs to open the inventory.
 
I had a gun + grenade in my item slots but it was still annoying having to constantly switch to the grenade everytime i wanted to open something.

I dont see a "instantweaponequip" in my ddraw.ini file (RP version). Is that normal? Should I just add that line?
 
Well, you could just keep the grenade as default and switch to the other weapon once you really need it.

Don't know about the missing line. Maybe the RP still uses an older Sfall version.
 
I'm not sure if I have the latest version of RP; but I think you're correct @Lexx. The current release of sFall is v3.8.4. The release of sFall (in the version of RP that I have installed) is 3.3. It is possible, though, that I have an older release of RP.

@Question2, please look in your ddraw.ini file and check the release number in the file header. That will give you the answer. You might need to update your sFall client and modder packs.

Yea RP uses an outdated version. I updated the .dll just in case and added the lines to the .ini, it works now, thanks.
