Removing the holstering/unholstering animation when using containers?

Question2

It Wandered In From the Wastes
One thing that always irked me about the series is that everytime you use a container, open a door, etc, you have to holster your weapon then unholster it, or at the very least, unholster your weapon again. It really slows the game down when you are opening many doors and containers.

Is there a way to remove that? So the animation does not play when you open a door, etc? I vaugely remember doing some FO2 modding many years ago, but i cannot remember if this was something that I did or if it was even possible.

Set InstantWeaponEquip=1 in ddraw.ini. You need to update sfall if your ini doesn't have it.

Thanks, sadly that doesnt appear to be compatible with fallout 1. And the version of sfall that comes with fallout fixit doesnt appear to have that line in the .ini...

there is a newer version:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hbh2nv90wbxl37z/sfall1.7z?dl=0
it's latest official crafty's sfall for fallout 1 engine.. (don't use it with fallout2 or Et Tu (which is based on Fallout2 engine.
Only use this for Fallout 1 engine like vanilla Fo1 & FIXT.

It would be less of a pain in the butt for You, to actually play Fallout: Et Tu, instead of FIXT as = less overall PITA.
however if You're feeling a bit masochistic than go ahead and download Crafty's sfall1 and play fixt.
as you can see here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hbh2nv90wbxl37z/sfall1.7z?dl=0&file_subpath=/ddraw.ini
it has the option you seek plus several other butthurt removers like the need to stop and open doors at all :p

and many others.

But i encourage you to check out Fallout: Et Tu the thread and download are here in modding thread:

Yea i didnt know about the port because it wasnt listed in the downloads section.

Ive just finished FO 1 though, dont think i will do another playthrough, at least not for a long time. It doesnt exactly have much replay value IMHO...very limited on the things you can do unlike FO 2.
