They've become a pretty big issue worldwide, so here you are incase you want to know what scientologists beleive (btw, they dont get to learn about Xenu until they get to OTIII (OTVIII is the highest rank). There are people who have been scientologists for 30 years who dont even know about xenu yet because they are not allowed until they pay enough money yo go up in the ranks.

So, what do you guys think of scientology? Freedom of religion, or insane abusive business masquerading as a cult to enslave followers as a source of revenue? (they are tax-exempt in the us since they are a religion, but they also own tons of businesses, they actually have a special deal with the irs, its really complex, want details and I'll give em)

It's stuff like this that shakes people's faith in freedom of religion and such. As long as they say it's faith there's nothing anyone can do, but when they act in such a way towards those that leave or stand against them you can just as easily think of them as a criminal organization and even more so with the required huge donations from its members.

I mean the fact you can believe in stuff like that shows how respectful we are of the freedom to have religion yet realising such freedom protects things like that is really shakes the ideal of freedom.

I mean just the aliens make the story strange enough, but at the "psychatrist" part of the conspiracy I stopped considering the story in a rational sense entirely...and that was before the "thetans".

I'm very glad I've never met a Scientologist in my life.

From what I have seen Scientology is a collective of ruthless, greedy, con peoples with no morals and a large following of mislead believers.

Some of the things they offer have some rational basis, however they exploit this seeminly good ideals their followers hold so dear.

From all I have seen Scientology is the biggest 'cult money con' ever to happen. What's more, these sorts of things are steriotypical for happening in America. Why hasn't the American public wised up?

Scientology is a tool, a massive powerful tool, used by the people who run it to not have to work and make money.

Personally I think the government(s) should cast political correctness to the wind and stamp these theives, robbers and liars out. Much like the KKK is now considered a 'terrorist' organisation so then should Scientology.

The people in charge of Scientology dont believe one damn word about aliens and bettering yourself (placebo for the most part perhaps?) but the masses of followers do. Why?

Because the people in charge want them to believe that so that they can take their money and still turn around with a lawyer and say "I have done nothing wrong."

There is a scientology office in my City. The people inside the office have the look of somone under great strain. This is most likly because deep down a part of them knows they are being taken for a ride, or that they are doing wrong and is screaming out for them to stop. Like brainwashed cattle they supress these voices, and some, like a few of the suacide's related to scientology, eventually have the voice of reason break free and enlighten them to the fact they have worked all their lives and given away everything they own to somone who has lied and cheated them and will concievably never be held to account for doing so.

Largely because it parallels most of the mythologies of the world ever to historically appear, while scientology sort of stands alone with a very unique manner of mythology.

even greek mythology seems more reasonable to me than xenu.

And some people considered Christianity ridiculous.....this only weakens my believe in religion - I mean, if people are capable of making up and persuading others into such bullshit, then is my religion for real?

Anyway, it's not my point or desire to discuss Christianity and other religions.

Scjentology, or what the fuck it's called, got way out of control and need to be stopped. Screw freedom of faith, who knows what the hell can they come up with....

Answer: it's not.

Scientology as a religion (and it's not, I mean not really, it purveys to be a form of psychology) is not more or less crazy than any other. But unlike the others, we haven't been indoctrinated to "live and let live" when it comes to Scientology. And that's simply unfair. Mormonism is at least as "made up" as Scientology, yet it's not treated the same way.

A scam? Plenty of religions are scams. The whole Catholic church is a scam and is richer than Scientology. But I don't see any threads showing pictures mocking the Catholic church or calling them out for just being another sect meant to make people lose money. No?

Crazy and aggressive to others? Oh shit no, son, you're actually going to sit there and claims there aren't a dozen larger religions that have members that are at least as crazy and aggressive to others?

If you want to get rid of, just move to Russia. Scientology is not a recognised religion there, and they've shut down multiple churches. Though I think the European Court of Human Rights deemed Russia does not have the right to do that.

But better yet, you can't single out Scientology as something made up and just take potshots at it. If Scientology is made up, and it is, what guarantees do you have that Mormonism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, etc. etc. are not all deemed "made up" and summarily banned?

Many religions take money or effort from their members. You're just opening up a whole pile of shit, darkyre, you can't prove Scientology has any less right to exist than, say, Catholicism, beyond saying "yeah but Catholicism has existed longer." So?

The whole point of freedom of religion is that no one has the right to separate one religion from the others and deem it illegal (unless it is proven to be harmful to others etc. etc.). Thanks for missing the point of freedom of religion

Also, the anonymous declaration of war is one of the most cowardly things I've ever seen.
