Sex, Drugs and.......

It Wandered In From the Wastes
With the absense of child killing fallout 3 do you think that with all the censorship and "moral values" the new Fallout will do away with the following?

- Prostitutes
- Pimps
- Drug Dealers
- Drugs
- Taking Drugs
- Drug addiction
- Sex Appeal, Sexpert, Giggalo, Karma Sutra Master
- Brothels

The seedy underbelly of the fallout world is threatened, your thoughts?

We don't get to have child killing?

I'm pretty sure it's been announced that they aren't sure yet, so why the assumptions?

But here is the brunt of it.

If you leave out one option (e.g. Child killing, innocent maiming) in a video game, due as a 'unofficial response' to a gaming censorship community.
You are already back sliding.
They are using words, and nothing tangible.
YOU lose all your games.

Whats to stop them from taking away any action that would adversely effect your 'Karma'?

E.g. "You REALLY don't need to kill those people. So we're going to have it standardized throughout ALL games, that killing of ANYTHING living, or 'appears' to be living, is totally wrong for video games."

"why do you need the "steal" skill? Stealing is WRONG! Bad you!"

I mean come on. Do you really want to be left with games where you are a pink lil bunny, and you have to figure out how to "share?"

BLEH! :P If i wanted that i'd.... JUST NOT PLAY video games.

You say you play Baldur's Gate 2. I believe you have kill Virtual Animals in that game too.

So what if you find killing Virtual people in a game "despicable."

What if i find killing "Virtual Creatures (of any kind)" just as despicable?

Will you renounce your ways and make a mod where all your enemies(of everykind), are 'harmless' & 'helpless' rocks on the ground?
You've encountered "Granite!"
You've encountered "Sandstone!"

lol

Yeah... I'm sure that will get old quick.

If people have problems with whats in a game. Do what i do!
 JUST DON'T BUY THEM!!

If the game's subject content is THAT bad, Parents shouldn't buy it for their kids and bitch about it. You bought it, if ya aint happy. Get rid of it.

If this "novel" concept of "don't bitch about it, JUST DON'T PLAY IT" gets around. Then we'd all have SO MUCH more fun in this lovely thing called life! Applause

Long story short:
Don't push your bullshit ideas of "morality" and what-not on me, and i wont make you eat rocks

I read somewhere that there wouldn't be child killing

maybe i was misinformed, no need to jump down my throat about it, you'll get stuck

I'm pretty sure someone asked it in an interview recently and the answer was "maybe, not sure"

Haha, i hope you are not talking about me. I was merely just posting what i put on another forum topic, to here, rather than typing the whole thing up.
If you read the forum link, it was mainly directed towards one guy, as well as the whole "censorship in games." :P

it wasn't directed at you greywolf :)

in forums people seem to be too preoccupied trying to outdo each other, I thought i read child killing was out, end of discussion

please be moving on to the question, what are your thoughts on the possible censorship of the more sensitive issues in fallout?

meh, i pretty much said all i wanted in my "long as hell" post  lol

If you don't like what is in a game "JUST DON'T BUY IT!"

If you don't like your kids playing it, tell them no, and if they buy it without your permission, break it (if they are under 18, and if they are over, kick them out. My house my rules etc...).

just because some 'person' doesn't like something in a game, or can't control their kids, is no reason for me to suffer all my games turning into "pink bunnies who learn how to share."

Yes, i want all those things left in the game. :P lol

alrighty....

well I'm afraid that they'll be out, given the huge amounts of media attention GTA San Andreas had with the 'hot coffee' fiasco.

now, Fallout doesn't show any sex I know, but one thing it does show is drugs. The GTA games don't have any drug taking going on by the main player and I know that there are alot of people out there who will hit the roof when they find out that Fallout not only has drugs in the game, but you can buy them and use them and also become and addict to them.

I'm sure Bethesda wants to avoid an R rating restriction on their game as it will cause many countries to ban it and prevent income coming in from those places.

I think that with today's society sex and drugs will be washed over so they "don't harm the children".

if you recall the game Fable on xbox, that had child killing to begin with, but after some screenshots of swords going through skulls, that function was quickly taken out of the game.

Yeah yeah, All i'm saying is i see to many parents who let their kids get away with hell.
Hell i've seen them damage merchandise, and then bite people in the same super market.

I just put that in as an end all, in case people who are bad parents, care to try and blame games ....again.
It is your way and manner of raising your kids that determines whom they will become. (technically the schools too, since you spend about 7-8 hours there, and then do about 1-2 hours of Home Work at home. So they have a big impact as well).

Didn't you know?

Everyone who's ever seen an action movie has killed someone soon after.
Its a scientific fact, and the governments of the world need to protect us.

Haha, i know! just because they can't handle business at home, and raise hellions, they want to push the blame somewhere else.
Your kid is an asshole. Not cause of TV, games, or Music. He's just an Asshole.
You the parent, are a bad parent. And no matter how much you try to attack everyone else! unless you get shit at home set up, it'll never get better, and your kid will still be an ass.

Bah! Responsibility people! Take some, shut up and leave me alone with all my cool shit that i am "Responsible" enough to play with  lol

but who's protecting us from the government people who watch action movies?

Well, if they are using full audio dialog for everything we can expect the really funny/stupid things whores etc say to be gone

Yeah, unless they have really, really good voice actors.. the lines just wont be as funny than if you read them. And from what it looks like it will be fully voiced. Maybe in the promised "isometric view for purists", they will have options to turn off voice acting. I'm not a programmer or know anything about it, but would it be that much extra work/space to unclude subtitles for all the spoken words?

Given they added in sub titles for all the diolauge in oblivion I see no reason why they wouldn't do the same for FO 3, if not I know a few deaf people ( http://www.deafgamers.com/ ) that will be rather disappointed.

Also subtitles are great for when you;re playing at 3am and do want to wake your signifigant other :P

I'll be really surprised if there are children in this game at all. Think about the last FPS game that even showed kids, let alone kids you could shoot at. It's a different world now that the game is going to be highly detailed and in the first person perspective.

Violence to children is a strong social taboo, it illustrates a failure of one of society's most basic functions, to protect its young from harm. This is a subject that even the Postal games haven't dared to touch.

And yet Deus Ex touched killable children matter.
I haven't played Deus Ex 2 but I think there also were killabe kids.

Different world? Don't give me this s**t please.
Different company without balls? Oh yeah.
